Summary: I bought this to use as a network printer, but the buggy control center software bundled with it only managed to connect to the printer on some of the Windows computers I own. The story doesn't end there though. Brother has an extensive driver catalog supporting a wide array of operating systems, so I was able to rig the system up to a Linux box it sits near via USB and use CUPS to share it around the house.
Summary: I have a Brother DCP 8065dn, also Brother MFC 8660dn also a Brother lable maker. I have had other brand ink jet printers and laser printers, and Brother just beats them all. When it comes to toner TN580 high yield cartridges that give you 7,000 pages, that is awesome. Also the Drum units give 25,000 pages. You should use the genuine cartridges if you do not want problems and at times you can find them cheap, and I always keep one extra on hand.
Avoiding the dreaded Toner Life Ended Message and Printing Until Toner REALLY Runs out!

Summary: I love this printer, I have had it for 3-4 years and use it at a weekend school. I have printed about 60,0000 copies on it. Here is how to fix the 3 most common issues. Have you noticed how the last page you get before you get the "Toner Life Ended" message is is perfectly clean and doesn't seem to be lacking any toner? Because the cartridge is not really empty! Here is a trick to make your cartridge print at least 1000 more copies..
Summary: Every time I buy a new printer, I vow that the next one will be a color laser - but so far, that hasn't happened. When my previous Brother multi-function died recently (after some 8 years of faithful service), I decided that THIS time I'd get that color laser, and researched them. Then I discovered that mere mortals can buy a duplexing (prints both sides) one, two-tone as well as color, and the price works out about the same.
Summary: I purchased this for my voice studio. It's a little big BUT I needed it. I spent so much time running to Kinko's doing photocopies for studio recitals, or copying music for students until their order came in (because after all, I don't want to violate copyright!) and I needed something that could reduce and duplex. This fits the bill. And I've networked it so I can use it from my desktop upstairs or from the notebook I have attached.
Summary: As a public high school teacher, making copies at school takes a long time--the waiting lines and the non-collating abilities of the school's old machines were problematic. I bought this multifunction machine to function strictly as a copier for my house. After wasting hours of time photocopying and collating multi-page short stories and assignments, I thought that this machine would be money well spent considering the time I would save.
After one year of use: Excellent quality product and value for money

Summary: I've used this copier/printer for one year and am very happy with it. We share it over network among the whole family, between one Mac and several PCs. The functionality that comes at such a low price is amazing. I am especially fond of its automatic scanner sheet feeder which is build very solidly. I do lot of scanning, and it still has to miss a page. After one year of using this product I can only regret that I haven't bought it earlier.
