Summary: I would have given this 5 starts but the shipping firmware is old and has issues. For example my iphone would have issues discovering this device as an Airplay endpoint. However, if you update the firmware you can resolve these issues.
Summary: Terrible product. Does not stay on WiFi network. I have to turn the unit on and off every time I want to use it because it never stays active on my WiFi network. It is physically closer to my high end WiFi router than a Denon networked receiver, but still drops on a daily basis.
Summary: I have a Bose soundlink speaker similar to this in my formal room (both use AirTunes to play music synchronously through out the house) . Of course, the Bose sounds amazing compared to this one (and most speakers like this).
Summary: Bought three of these speakers for $50 each = $150 for three. I now have an airport extreme as wifi base. Airport express hooked up to my stereo in the living room, and the wireless airplay speakers in the master bedroom, downstairs area and kitchen. It is a perfect airplay setup.
Summary: What a surprise. This unit works MUCH better than I expected. This is a 2011 model and I just bought it a few days ago for $99. I've had 10 or 12 dock style units but really wanted an airplay cable device for the nightstand ... wish it had a clock face though. Set up was easy, but not very elegant.
The Airplay never worked. The speakers work only through the audio cable not through Airplay.

Summary: I was very excited to buy this low cost speakers because they had Airplay and that feature usually is very expensive. However when I received the speakers, to my surprise Airplay never worked! The speakers work only through the audio cable BUT NOT through Airplay. Money wasted.
Summary: It is a little clumsy to setup, but given you are joining it to your WIFI with a password - it is pretty darn is necessary. I move it all over the house to play music/podcasts. It would be nice to be battery powered, but because it uses AirPlay and not bluetooth, I can easily switch what device is...
Summary: I was looking to set up full house audio, and I chose to go with AirPlay speakers instead of hard wiring a multi-zone stereo. I chose these speakers for their price compared to others that are AirPlay enabled.
