Summary: This docking station has incredible sound quality for its size and price. After years of using an IPod, I recently received a Zune HD as a gift and bought the $12.99 monthly Zune Pass. I quickly realized that, with a Zune and a good in-house wireless router, I could have (almost) any music I wanted any time I wanted it anywhere in my house. But I needed a portable way to amplify the music to make the system really work.
Summary: This thing generates amazing sound at mid to high volume, but lacks bass and definition at low volume. When it comes to quiet, ambient listening, the Bose sound dock is definitely better. However, considering the vast price difference between the two, this Kicker dock is of much better value. Also, a built in battery would have been nice in terms of portability. but maybe they didn't include a battery because the sub uses up so much power?
Summary: I was very surprised at the amount of output this little system has. The only thing that was a little unexpected was the fact that the sub on the back is a passive radiator and not active. It still has great sound quality and bass so that is a minimal downfall. The price was right too. My wife enjoys it very much and uses it daily.
Summary: I recently bought a Zune HD and wanted a sound dock. After looking at the few that are available for the Zune, I settled on the Kicker ZK500. I had read the great reviews, but was still skeptical about the sound from a unit of that size. I was pleasantly suprised to say the least. I listen to hard rock and music with a lot of base, and it is often turned up loud. This system delivers. The sound quality is awesome with no distortion even at the highest sound level.
Summary: What anawesome box, This box blows away all the little ipod boxes I have had and I have seen. There is only one problem, when she is cranked up all the way she wont sit still , she will vibrate off the table if your not watching it. Even and Max volume she is crystal clear. Well worth the money. everydime of it.
Summary: I purchased this Zune dock over 6 months ago. I use my Kicker every day at work, 10 hours a day, 5 days (or more) a week. I also use it at home very often. This piece of machinery is hands down the best audio dock that I've ever owned or had the privilege using. The Kicker has fantastic sound, and plenty of it. I needed a dock that could give a little push because my work isn't the quietest of areas. I have no problem hearing my music whatsoever.
Summary: This is a nice product. however Kicker completely leaves out the fact that the Zune HD radio cannot play using this device. The product was made before the Zune HD was launched in 2009 so it is not Kicker's fault entirely, other then they knowingly state it is Zune HD compatible..It is to a point. Firstly, many of the ZK500's on sale do not have the firmware needed to function out of the box. Of course you won't know that until you get it home.
Summary: The ZK500 Kicker erases albums on my Zune. I finally figured out what was going on after reading another customer review. I thought the Kicker was freezing up(because it wouldn't play)...in reality the album had been erased so there was nothing to play. It sounds great when it's playing but it is extremely frustrating to have it quit playing and then find out that the album you were playing has been erased from your Zune.
Summary: I bought this and the day after recieving I decided to try it out at home before takiing it to work. Had it on for about 2-3 hours, sound quality was great but after the 2-3 hour period it stopped playing, when I looked at it the zune was showing it was playing but it was frozen on the last song that played. I went into the zune menu and it showed I had nothing on the zune.
Summary: Kicker ZK500 Zune Speaker Dock (Black) I've owned the Kicker for two months now. I'd give it 3 stars. Pros: Great Sound, Lightweight, Decent Footprint Cons: Erased my Zune twice now One thing you do not want to do with this device is get frustrated with the remote and start pushing the buttons on the Zune while it is connected to the base of the Kicker. This can format the drive on the Zune. All your music/podcasts are deleted. Interstingly, the background art is not.
