Summary: If the exposed drivers bother you there is an easy fix for that. Get a sock and cut out a couple of three inch lengths and slip them over the speakers. If you pick a stylish sock it will look good. There, you can be a modder.
Pros: It will play at a pretty high volume without a lot of distortion. Comes with both home and auto power supplies as well as the option to use batteries.
Cons: Speakers are exposed which seems a rather odd design for an item that is portable. The included patch cord is rather short but you can get any length you need at your local shack if that is a problem.
Summary: It's a little larger than I was expecting; it winds up being about the size and weight of a folding travel umbrella. It might fit in a pocket, but only if you have very large pockets. I purchased this to replace a speaker with a bum cable, so I appreciate the replaceable patch cord.
Pros: Solidly built, replaceable cord, decent volume. I cranked the volume up to max and didn't hear much in the way of distortion.
Cons: Exposed drivers: I picked it up to move it while it was playing, and my finger slipped and touched one of the vibrating drivers. Be careful when handling it. Mediocre battery life: Just buy an 8-pack of Eneloop AAAs and swap them out. Poor bass: You can't expect room-shaking bass out of a set of ...
Summary: After checking out 4 other portable speaker models, these are the only ones worth buying.
Pros: These little guys pack a serious punch! Don't let their appearance fool you, these speakers can actually get really loud and entertain a large room of chatty people. I find myself having to turn it DOWN sometimes, unprecedented in the ultra portable speaker market, where maxing out the volume oft...
Cons: It drains through my rechargeable batteries very quickly, but that is probably a design necessity, or maybe its just my CVS brand batteries! If you are using these on a camping trip or something make sure you bring alot of extra batteries. The only way these could be improved is if you could deta...
Summary: I have not tested durability because it just sits at work with me all day but the unit does feel pretty heavy (even without batteries) and fairly solid. The tilt-able controls base doesn't feel like it's held together with cheap parts either.
Pros: For what you are paying, there is no better small form portable speaker set out there. I love this thing. Very good and big sound for a unit this small. Can be either powered or run on batteries (battery life is good at low to medium volumes, decent even at higher volumes). It takes up almost no ...
Summary: Bought these to replace $5 foldable speakers. I work in a kitchen...so It is very easy for me to bust out the ipod with these speakers when I am prepping...I don't have to carry around an ipod dock station or some large speakers. If only the bass was double as strong..
Pros: Fits in pocket. Soft carrying pouch. Solid. Great sound for size. portability portability portability
Cons: To be a perfect product, the bass could be a tiny bit stronger, and there should be some way to cover the exposed speakers when not in use. ...doesn't bother me though
Pros: They sound good for small speakers. If you don't want to spend a lot and want something small, this is a good deal. I was surprised and I have some higher end audio equipment. Great for what they are.
Cons: As other have said the stubby audio cable isn't cool. I had a longer one laying around though so no problem for me.
