Great HTPC itx board
10 April 2011
Summary: As long as you use good RAM this motherboard works great. With a Pico power brick my system runs at about 25 to 20 watts. I actually also bought the DDR3 GF9300-K-E thinking it would use less power but it wasn't the case. Stick with this model as it works great. Some of the newer GF9300-G-e even have NVIDIA 9400 GPUs in them. I bought two GF9300-G-E and one had the 9400 and the other 9300. No way to find out until you turn it on and load Windows.
Summary: Pros: Size (Mini-itx), PCI-e 16x slot, NVIDIA ion chipset, Wireless conectivity. Cons: DOA, did not get to tests the motherboard. Already returned it and I am getting an intel based motherboard. This is the second NVIDIA based chipset motherboard that has given me problems. Guess I will have to stick with the GMA 4500HD for my HTPC.
Summary: I've been struggling with this board from day one (I'm on day 7). There are some things that can't be fixed, and some things that can. First of all, before considering this board please understand there are only two internal SATA ports. My fault for not reading the fine print and simply assuming a chipset that supports six ports would have at least three on board for a standard double HD + optical drive configuration.
Summary: pros: compatible with all current C2Duos and C2Quads, integrated wi-fi, full pci-e 16x. cons: limited heatsink & fan options; will accept stock intel hs/fan only a certain way; won't fit most aftermarket coolers. other: great full-featured board at a nice price. stuck it in a old-school Nintendo box with intel C2Duo E8400 and 2x2Gb ram. using pico-psu 150/102W runs great with windows XP! a bit hot, but i'm not using a conventional case.
Summary: I've had this for a month now for my htpc running windows 7 RC media center Specs: Pentium 5200 (2.5GHz core 2) 4GB OCZ DDR2 WD green 1TB hdd LG GGC H20L Super Multi Blue (blueray/ hdvd drive) Antec veris basic multimedia station (IR receiver) Pros: 1. Excellent nvidia 9300 graphics for htpc. Smooth playback with Blueray, HDDVDs & OTA HD 2. Tiny form factor & uses very little power, with great cpu support(core 2 duos & quad) 3. Perfect feature list for HTPC 4.
Summary: This is an absolutely excellent motherboard. I have to give it 5 stars and I do so on the excellence of the board and nothing else. There are a few comments to be made however. I would have liked to see 3 SATA connections or 2 SATA and a IDE slot but if you keep in mind that this board is in Mini iTX format and under normal circumstances you would use a small factor case then there will not be enough room for 2 hard disks and an DVD/RW drive.
Summary: This may be small motherboard but it is very powerfull, having the majority of the features found on a mini-ATX or ATX motherboard. It will form the basis of a very small but very powerful PC, or with the right case a Home Theatre PC. With Windows 7 it will play AVCHD video with only 3% CPU (E8400)utilisation. It has a single 16x PCI-e slot which can be used for a discrete graphics card and dual SLI. Alternatively, the slot could be used for a TV tuner card in a HTPC.
