Poor quality control

Joseph Y., Newegg
30 December 2014
  • Summary: I will not buy another ZOTAC product.
  • Pros: Small form factor.
  • Cons: Poor quality control. UEFI booting does not work. CPU has Machine Check Exceptions under load yet the temperature is <45°C. The company is unwilling to fix the issue and was unresponsive in initial contact.

Compact but can't handle many videos well

The General, Amazon
24 January 2014
  • Summary: The cpu and built on GPU combined with an SSD should be more then enough for a media box but I frequently get display lag when watching netflix or other HD video sources. Other then the worse then expected performance the box is compact, relatively quiet and gives you some customization ability for...

Doesn't kick butt like I had hoped

tstorzuk, Amazon
1 December 2013
  • Summary: I had high hopes for this, but it just doesn't have the Oomph factor that I was looking for in building an HTPC as outlined here; [...] I instead opted for a much more powerful system to run as my HTPC, as outlined here; [...]

Not very reliable

Dr Julian, Amazon
23 July 2013
  • Summary: Board frequently freezes running window 7. Freeze requires reboot. Unfortunately this board was purchased for remote operation so its continuous freeze-ups make it pretty much worthless to us. Oh yeah...and just TRY and get action to replace it...good luck.

Having a very bad time with this company!!

dw, Amazon
8 July 2013
  • Summary: Had the motherboard installed and running nicely for about 4 months. Then one day the Ethernet died via the cat-5 connector. Wireless still working, so something wrong with the hardware on the cat-5 path. Perhaps a bad voltage converter input chip for the wired Ethernet signal line...not sure.

Plenty to love and hate

David F., Newegg
2 June 2013
  • Summary: Overall this is a really nice package and it SIPS power, but it has some serious limitations. Makes for an excellent HTPC and will hopefully serve as a great rig for my kids to surf and do some light gaming.
  • Pros: Incredibly small footprint, sips power, takes SO-DIMM memory, onboard mSATA slot, integrated GeForce GT520 graphics, lots of video out options, included Intel wireless N network card with leads to external/integrated antennae, dual core CPU with hyperthreading which means 4 threads - incredible v...
  • Cons: Max RAM speed is 1066,mSATA is only SATA-2, only supports 4GB RAM, only 2 SATA ports, and one of them can't be used if you use the mSATA slot

Great HTPC mainboard!

True-North M., Newegg
29 May 2013
  • Summary: Zotac has a great product line and almost all are perfect for HTPC use. I'm using it as a media server running Windows 7 Ultimate - Plex
  • Pros: Small footprint, integrated CPU, built in WiFi, USB 3.0 and more.
  • Cons: Wifi is only G not N and needs more than 4 GB RAM if using for an HTPC server - but that may be in combination with typical Windows bugs

Great for low power HTPC

Dale M., Newegg
4 February 2013
  • Pros: Bought as Black Friday to replace an older Pentium-D HTPC system. Dual core, with hyperthreading on top of that. I have 4GB and one internal TV tuner in chassis and two networked tuners. Have no hiccups watching one/recording two more at the same time with Win7/64bit OS with Media Center (same fo...
  • Cons: Has only two SATA ports, so ODD/HDD are about it - the mSATA for an SSD uses one of the SATA ports, so can't have SSD/HDD/ODD combo internal. I used USB3 and an external HDD dock to add more to system. Only time it ever felt "slow" was when installing all the Win7 updates on a new install.

Mini-TX Atom D2700

Gaylen B., Newegg
2 February 2013
  • Summary: Maybe Zotac could improve their BIOS setup a bit, its there, it just seemed a bit cryptic… with poor setting highlights and functional descriptions. But Hey, the Zotac BIOS background graphics are impressive.
  • Pros: This is one Superb Mini-TX Atom D2700 MB, The heat sink is impressive for cooling a 10 Watt Atom processor (and who know what else is under the hood). The neatest feature is the on board NVIDIA GPU, Fantastic graphics at 1920 x 1200. It even runs flawless with my old Vista OS. The DVI and HDMI po...
