Good low power motherboard

William F., Newegg
4 April 2012
  • Summary: There really aren't many options for a socket G2 motherboard here but this one did the job. Used in mini-itx case with 4 3TB "green" drives, an i5-2520M cpu, 8 GB of memory, and Windows Home Server 2011. System doesn't even get over 65W or so even when stress testing.
  • Pros: An actual server board with all of the remote management tools you could want with Intel Management Engine and remote console options. • Cons: No eSata ports. Sometimes loses the USB mouse requiring a quick disconnect and reconnect for some reason but that might just be my setup for some reason. No mSata port.
