MSI Z87 MPower MAX Motherboard

Benchmark Reviews
6 July 2013
  • Conclusion: I don't think there's any compelling reason to move from an Ivy Bridge or even a Sandy Bridge based system to a Haswell system-- there simply isn't enough performance and feature differential to justify it. On the other hand, if you're building a new rig from scratch, there's little point in investing in end-of-life platforms, so going Haswell/Z87 makes sense.
  • Pros: Big and bad. More SATA 6G and USB 3.0 ports than anyone could actually use., Improved ClickBIOS 4 is more informative and easier to use then previous MSI efforts., Button panel, POST code readout, OC Genie, mSATA connector, et cetera., Very good bundle of Windows utilities, Killer NIC and excellent audio, WiFi and Bluetooth included
  • Cons: What, only four fan headers?, Active cooling would be nice on this class of board, No documentation on PCI-E lane allocation.

  • Summary: Coming in at $259.99 at the time of writing, the MSI MPOWER MAX is cheaper than you'd actually think. Considering the features that are offered on the board, along with the out of the box performance, we really thought that it would cost a little more, like around the $279 - $289 mark.

  • Conclusion: For some, this board will be more than a bit of overkill. But with competing Asus and Intel boards we’re also in the process of reviewing priced about the same or even a bit more, while lacking some of the Z87 MPower Max’s niceties, this board should definitely be on your short list—if you can afford it.
  • Pros: Onboard mSATA connector, Low-profile Mpower heatsinks ease installation of large coolers, Generous in-box accessory mix, Robust overclocking features
  • Cons: Top x1 slot nearly blocked by heatsink, A few features seem superfluous

MSI Z87 MPower MAX Motherboard Review (with LN2 results)

  • Conclusion: I have always liked MSI’s UEFI Click BIOS and said in previous reviews it’s one of the best looking. The layout is logical and user friendly with all the basics and tons more advanced options to play with. As mentioned above, please be careful with the BIOS in that if you brick one, fix it before you brick both!! I’m not sure why it bricked so easy, but, as always, just be careful and always have a good bios on hand in one of the slots.

MSI Z87 MPower MAX motherboard review

The Guru of 3D

  • Summary: As you guys know, overall I am a little disappointed by Intel's Haswell processors when it comes to its baseline performance, or the lack of improvement of processor performance in general over the last two generations more specifically. However, the motherboards manufacturers all went bananas with their motherboards. MSI even literally took that banana color :) Seriously though, what a sexy motherboard !

MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX Review

Overclock3D
21 August 2013
  • Excerpt: Motherboard manufacturers ebb and flow when it comes to consistently producing hardware that you know will tick all the boxes. Whether it's XFX, then DFI, ASUS, Gigabyte and, more recently, MSI. They all have their moment in the sun. Lately MSI have been producing a bevy of motherboards that not only hit all the aesthetic marks, but perform well and are priced so competitively that everyone else has to take a long hard look at their pricing.

  • Excerpt: 3 Flares 3 Flares × It would have been difficult to miss Intel’s launch of Haswell last weekend. On launch day we looked at the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC and the ASUS Z87 Sabertooth motherboards and today we analyse the latest high end board from MSI – The Z87 MPower MAX. This is priced a little higher than the other boards we have looked at so far – around £219.95 inc vat.

MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX

pcmag.ru
3 January 2014

Test: MSI Z87 MPower MAX - DAS Brett für maximales Overclocking?

Hardwareluxx
6 July 2013
  • Cons: keine
