Artem O., Newegg
5 August 2013
  • Summary: Currently being rma. If it comes back in working order in the time frame specified, I will give it 5 eggs
  • Pros: Awesome board. Oc'ed my 3770k to 4.8ghz no problem.
  • Cons: After about 11 months, it stopped booting. It would just go into a continuous boot loop.

  • Pros: good amount of features looks nice solid bios
  • Cons: well my z77 gd55 broke after 3 months. msi replaced it with a mobo with a loose heatsink. hopefully this loose heatsink doesnt cause any issues down the road.

good value, poor Bios.

Jamie H., Newegg
18 February 2013
  • Pros: It's pretty looking, well built, good quality Z77 board for the price. As far as basic quality for the price I like this board and it posted right away with no issues. It liked my Gskill 2x8Gb 2133Mhz RAM and at least the bios easily alowed me to simply switch from the default RAM Freq to 2133Mhz...
  • Cons: Why in the world MSI decided to install a CPU latch cover screw that must be removed prior to setting the CPU is beyond me. It has a locking clip, but after installing the CPU you have to use the screw just removed or else the socket latch door will not hold the CPU in place after latched. really...

all good except...

  • Summary: but seriously. 4.4GHz AND 1.18V??!! BAHAHAHHAHA! YOU GUYS MUST BE SO JEALOUS! i was just reading reviews on the 3770k and saw a guy who got to 4.5GHz and 1.31V with temps up to the mid 80s. then there is me, with -100MHz and hovers around 55-60c max. got too 4.5GHz with 1.2V and temps get to 63c.
  • Pros: this motherboard all around seem pretty great! love the UEFI BIOS, it is great. clear CMOS button on the back so when i get an unstable OC i can easily fix it, but i can also save stable OC profiles so i don't have to go fix everything again. and the best part, with this things amazing overclocka...
  • Cons: there are a few annoying cons. 1. in windows i cannot tweak the CPUs voltage at all without getting BSoD. but i am lucky enough to have the technology to tweak just about everything else in windows. 2. RAM is way to close to the CPU. unless you wanna have your Hyper212+ pushing against your RAM, ...

MSI Z77 GD55

Cameron K., Newegg
12 July 2012
  • Summary: Not sure how broken it is, Upon startup, it displays '99' in the bottom right corner of my screen. This means "Super I/O Initialization" Most people say they were able to fix this by removing all unnecessary devices. I removed from the motherboard except Power, Cpu, and Cpu fan.
  • Pros: Straightforward design,
  • Cons: DOA, I know its not MSI's fault, stuff happens. I am just not sure if I am supposed to RMA through Newegg.com or MSI. MSI closed my support ticket without responding to my problem, I thought that was rather... unfriendly?

Neat

13 June 2012
  • Summary: Would give it 2 eggs, but I feel like it's not that big of a problem. So a 3 it gets.
  • Pros: The color scheme is really nice. Very sturdy. The click bios is really easy to work with. OC Genie is working beautifully (however i wasn't planning to use it)
  • Cons: Hmmm....I only really have one negative thing to say. When i first got this mobo it booted up just fine, but after some few boots it just gave up and i got a A9 error, it couldn't read or start the bios. I've tried resetting the bios plenty of times, but it just wouldn't work. However I did find ...

Some good...some not so good.

Timothy S., Newegg
13 May 2012
  • Summary: I will try another brand such as Asus or Gigabyte for my next build. MSI has a good product with the Z77A-GD55, but it feels like it wasn't really finished before release.
  • Pros: Good quality. Onboard power, reset and OC genie buttons. Good features for cost. Ships with some extras (MSI's M-connector, an SLI bridge and 4 sata cables).
  • Cons: BIOS and software are buggy, minimal and difficult to understand. The included documentation is so poorly written that it's mostly useless.

Looks good

sergey i., Newegg
7 May 2012
  • Summary: I had a defective board, not sure which end but would not post. I always had a good experience with MSI, however I ended up getting a sabertooth from ASUS instead since it had more features and I finally got paid.
  • Pros: Looks nice Has a row of LEDs to signify if power is not working properly and at what part of the MB.
  • Cons: Had a loose heat sink on the north bridge when I opened it. I was unable to get the board to start up and it kept an endless restart before anything was able to load. (just my experience with it.) (after thorough inspection, no bent pins before and immediately after assembly.)

Wrong Turbo mode for I5-3570K

Emily M., Newegg
4 May 2012
  • Pros: Very fast boot times using a Sata-3 SSD.
  • Cons: Out of the box, running Prime95 gave only 3100Mhz. Ran a bios update with their utility, Prime95 now shows only 3600Mhz. This chip has max turbo ot 3800Mhz. Using an after market cooler, so had to reverse the fan in a pull mode as their is now enough clearance between cooler and memory.
