Conclusion: In this section I am going to write a brief five point summary on the following categories; Performance, Appearance, Construction, Functionality and Value. These views are my own and help me to give the MSI Z77A-G45 GAMING Motherboard a rating out of 10, a high score here does not necessarily mean that it is better than a similar motherboard which has been reviewed by another writer here at Benchmark Reviews, that may have got a lower score.
Pros: 2 x 16 lane PCIe Gen 3.0 slots, Fairly priced, Integrated Realtek ALC892 8-Channel Audio, Integrated Killer E2200 NIC, Bold design, Well laid out PCIe slots, SLI / CrossFire multi GPU support, Great power saving in ECO mode, Excellent software (Command Center and Control Center)
Cons: Top SATA ports may hinder VGA install in top PCIe slot, Only 6 SATA ports, Limited overclocking power, UEFI Could use some improvements
Summary: At a price point of $130 to $140, the MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming is in the Mainstream Gaming category of Intel Z77 motherboard systems.
Benchmark results for the Z77A-G45 Gaming board performed as expected. The SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 speeds from the Z77 chipset were excellent, and the integrated Killer E2205 NIC card performed at a very high speed.
Board Layout -
The Z77A-G45 is a standard ATX motherboard measuring 12 inches in length and 9.6 inches in width.
Conclusion: It’s a solid board, I must say the heatsink feels solid but I don’t have a gun to test out whether this Military Grade III component is bullet proof. That aside, I just wish that there’s a board speaker or POST LED indicator. It feels good (and more convenient) to hear the BEEP confirming POST. The board is priced at about RM 480 with Intel Ivy Bridge support and PCI-E 3.0.
Excerpt: Motherboards are, as we've often said here at OC3D, now so interchangeable thanks to the excellence of the Intel chipsets that you can purchase almost anything and be sure of a good foundation to your system.
Excerpt: Many people will be heading into 2013 with plans of upgrading their system. MSI sent us their capable, but competitively priced Z77A-G45 Z77 motherboard and we are pairing it up with the monster Lightning GTX680 graphics card. We test a system using these components with the latest games and try our hand at some overclocking. Are these products worthy of your money?
