Update

James T., Newegg
17 March 2013
  • Pros: Update to previous review. After swapping out all components with a new motherboard I determined that the culprit in my case was faulty firmware on an SSD. How the SSD caused random BIOS screens to pop up is unknown to me, but updating the SSD firmware (a Crucial M4) resolved this issue on both s...
  • Cons: I don't give this product 5 stars as the BIOS itself needs much more documentation - but this is a problem with most BIOS so nothing personal.

Awesome micro board, great for overclocking

Cam A., Newegg
9 November 2012
  • Summary: If you have/have found this board somewhere, and are trying to use it with an Ivy Bridge CPU, it won't work. I don't think the BIOS in this board has not been updated to support Ivy chips.
  • Pros: This board is awesome! I put it in my first ever build, and it's been working great for a year. I currently have an i7 2600k @ 4.4 GHz (1.32V) which is a 24/7 OC. I do F@H for around 10+ hours a day on this, and haven't experienced a crash at these clocks since they've been stable. (about 2 weeks...
  • Cons: The only problem I have with this board is the back audio output (to headphones) isn't working right. The sound sometimes doesn't output on one side, then the other, then back to normal, but the case output works fine (which is the output from the motherboard). The only real con I have is that Ne...

G3 support , not B3 support

Thomas M., Newegg
20 May 2012
  • Pros: Quality board maker
  • Cons: MSI anounced on 23-Feb-2012 that there would be G3 upgradeable boards and there was no mention of B3 boards. Do your research first!

Good motherboard, innacurate temperatures

Cam A., Newegg
6 May 2012
  • Summary: Overall though, I like this motherboard, and for it's price, I'd recommend it. I had no problems when installing anything on it, and everything is working fine about a week into using this new computer.
  • Pros: I really like this motherboard, but it's in my first custom build, so I'm probably not the most knowledgeable about this motherboard. The BIOS is easy to navigate through for anything, and I have no major problems with this motherboard.
  • Cons: There are a few things I don't like about this motherboard. The first thing I noticed in the BIOS is that the CPU temperature was reading at 50 C, which is quite high seeing as the CPU started up just seconds earlier. I then opened RealTemp, which gave me more acurate temperatures for the idle CP...

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
1 November 2011
  • Summary: Running with an i5-2405S CPU, so can't comment on the overclocking capability. Very good processing performance out of this combo. On-board graphics performance didn't quite come up to my standards for 1080p video, so switched to a Galaxy GeForce GT430 board which has worked very well.
  • Pros: Solidly built, came up very quickly and has been running 24/7 for months. USB 3.0 works.
  • Cons: Tight spacing on components, may not fit all CPU coolers, etc. Stock Intel cooler is OK, anything else and you may have to do some experimenting. FireWire port had noise on the ground or something that got into the audio from my Edirol FA66. Had to use the optical output instead which is adequate...

Great, multi-featured board for a microATX

Eleanor P., Newegg
14 August 2011
  • Summary: a solid board for anyone needing z68 in microATX form factor
  • Pros: +Has all the tools onboard, including UEFI +interesting layout of temp sensors tells you where the hotspots are +OC out of the box capability +lots of lights and blinkies for those who want to show off their internals (like the LED CPU phase power indicators)
  • Cons: -OC genie is a touch heavy on the CPU volts -MSI utilities are servicable, no more (Expected more) -the many lights and blinkies may be a minus for those who want discrete mobo's and have their own internal lighting solutions. Mobo CPU phase power LED's can be deactivated according to documentation

Loving it so far.

Jeff M., Newegg
31 July 2011
  • Summary: I got away from the "extreem machine" look and decided on something more practical, like a micro ATX, but wanted overclocking features for a 2600k. This board has loads of features including great overclocking and a nice BIOS. BIOS even has a LAN driver to get it's own update.
  • Pros: Price, features, great overclocking on an m-atx form factor, 4 internal usb headers, stable so far.
  • Cons: Only 6 rear USB ports and no rear slot plate was included to add more USBs using the internal headers. SPDIF is optical only. There is a SPDIF header on the board but again, no cable provided to give you a rear RCA SPDIF. Overclock profiles are not saving memory configuration. -1 egg for lack of ...

Needs work

Matt B., Newegg
1 June 2011
  • Summary: Onboard LEDs are really bright, but can be turned off in bios and also on and off with MSI Control Center. MSI Control Center is surprisingly nice.
  • Pros: Besides the cons I really like it. Onboard sound is pretty impressive. Used with i5 2400 @38x limit locked multiplier. Pc is silent. Max temp in OCCT is 50c.
  • Cons: Onboard VGA is the only display out that works correctly. The DVI and HDMI ports on the board display a blinking cursor on a blank screen. Came with 10.0 BIOS. I flashed to 10.2 but that did not fix the onboard DVI and HDMI. Tried making IGP priority boot with multi-display out, but still no go. ...

Micro ATX de calidad

Nasser, amazon.es
23 June 2014
  • Summary: En su momento era la micro ATX más barata con el chip Z68, prometiendo componentes de calidad. El USB 3.0 siempre me dice windows que no funciona como tal, quizás defecto mío al instalar los drivers, no he comprobado el rendimiento real.
