  • Pros: Military Components a plus, well designed board. Will chime in later with fuller review as first mobo was DoA
  • Cons: DoA, RMA'd succesfully will write full review later. Top notch materials and motherboard so far. If it'd only work. so taking an egg off for that

Performs Well

Jeffrey R., Newegg
22 December 2011
  • Summary: If your not pretty tech savy you may want to consider something else, as noted driver/utilty installation in Win 7 64bit is not for the meek at heart.
  • Pros: Quality construction, great features, PCI 3.0, UEFI, Z68, on/off reset and OC physical buttons on the board, plenty of room between expansion slots, just a really nicely engineered MB and looks great in Blue/Black. Benchmarks are top notch across the board.
  • Cons: The drivers and utilities are a nightmare to get installed in Win 7 64-bit. Win 7 64 didn't recognize any of the built in peripherals, Ethernet, audio, usb 3.0, etc so on. Normally no big thing but the driver disk installation interface was a nightmare, hung up constantly, and just flat crashed t...

A good motherboard

Douglas H., Newegg
29 November 2011
  • Pros: - Plenty of features to help this motherboard keep up with technology changes. - Virtu helps save power by switching between CPU's GPU and dedicated GPU. - OC Genie performs well - really is just the push of a button. - Quality components. - Able to use mouse for bios settings.
  • Cons: - SATA interface directly in line with PCI-E slot -- makes access very difficult with long video card in place. My card covers the interface, I have to remove card to make changes to the connections. - Memory slots are very close to CPU socket -- makes my large CPU heatsink get in the way with sl...

Very Good; Could Be Better

Robert C., Newegg
18 November 2011
  • Pros: USB 3.0 connector on the MB; UEFI BIOS better than the old stuff. Stable so far.
  • Cons: Need REALLY good eyes to follow the diagrams for the case pin connections--good luck! Documentation is very poor... assumes you know a lot. Those with experience building will have no problem, but unsatisfactory for new builders. Also poorly written. Live Update 5 and Control Panel utilities look...

  • Summary: This is one of the easiest motherboards i have ever worked with. in the past few days I have ran the boad with a 2500k cpu and stock fan It has run smooth and much cooler than I thought it would under moderate load. The on board graphics and audio Well, they truely Stink, Baddly!...
  • Pros: MSI Z68A GD65 (G3) This is a great Motheroard, I picked this one for a new custom build, and to my surprise everything worked right out of the box, if you ever built a computer, then you know how rare that is. The New Bios with mouse and keyboard support was very easy and best of all with Click I...
  • Cons: My Negitives are not about the board, I bought and paid for a new board, it came in a crushed box, under a pwer supply I also bought. It looked Pre opened. Second, when I registered with MSI The Warranty certificate was for 3 years not five.

Very solid.

Michael S., Newegg
18 October 2011
  • Summary: Not being able to get into BIOS prior to OS install meant all my drives were originally configured as IDE. So no SATA 3 speed and no Windows TRIM support for my SSD. I was able to fix this but you have to know what you're doing.
  • Pros: My first build and this board was a breeze. Solid construction and plenty of on-board connections for USB2 (3), USB3 (1), case fans (4), etc. Comes with an SLI bridge, SATA cables (4), and USB3 bracket for if your case doesn't have front USB3 connections. Documentation for the board, BIOS, and in...
  • Cons: I could not get to BIOS prior to installing Windows. I'm using a wireless KB so maybe thats the problem, but even after OS install, I was never able to call the BIOS until I put the system in its permenant location. I changed the physical USB ports I was using for the KB and mouse and could sudde...

Very Nice

eric s., Newegg
18 October 2011
  • Summary: Yes, I would purchase another MSI product. Previously an EVGA user. I did loads of research before pulling the trigger on this product. So far so good :)
  • Pros: Handsome looking board. Very clean... Packaging was well done. Instructions better then most. Click Bios II is fantastic. Everything went great on the first go. Thanks MSI!
  • Cons: CPU Socket cover had come off during shipment. The plastic hinge was broken but the pieces stayed on the sticker which was just floating around inside the anti-static bag. Not sure what the deal was with this.(-1 egg) I took a chance and tried the board and yes it was fine. Spacing between the 16...

Recieved open box.

Dean D., Newegg
15 October 2011
  • Summary: New Egg customer service is sending me a replacement - Next Day Air Saver. Hopefully not another previously opened item. Zero stars for sending me an opened box. +4 stars for the no-hassle customer service.
  • Pros: Looks great on paper. Looking forward to installing and using the board.
  • Cons: Arrived as an open-boxed item. I don't do previously opened electronics - ever. Simply unacceptable.

Pretty impressed.

Gregory B., Newegg
11 October 2011
  • Summary: I have only had it for a day, but so far I am liking the board and the layout. Install went good and posted right off the bat.
  • Pros: It's future proof for using PCI-E 3.0! Nice spacing for when I decide to go SLI on this board. Lots of good features and hoping MSI does me well, since I haven't used a MSI MB since my DOA AMD Barton motherboard (8 years ago).
  • Cons: The DIMMS are really close to the CPU and that prevented me from using the aftermarket cooler that I purchased (I have to send that back now). It's not a horrible deal since I wanted to go liquid cooling and now I will buy one, so I can really OC this 2500K.
