MSI P35 Neo

The P35 Neo is an ATX form factor (12 x 8.65 inches) motherboard from Micro-Star International that uses Intel’s P35 northbridge and ICH9 southbridge chipsets. It has an LGA 775 socket that supports Intel’s Core2 Quad, Core2 Extreme, Core2 Duo, Pentium 4 (Prescott, P4EE), Pentium D and Pentium XE/Celeron D processors. The P35 Neo features a 800/1066/1333 MHz front side bus and includes support for Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology and Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST).

The MSI P35 Neo has four slots for DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules with support for dual channel DDR2 667/800 MHz memory. Maximum RAM capacity is 8 gigabytes.

For graphics processing units or other expansions cards requiring high bandwidth, the MSI P35 Neo MSI P35 Neo offers a dual PCI Express x16 interface that features support for ATI’s CrossFire technology. Other PCI slots on the motherboard are three 1x slots and two 2.3 32-bit Master PCI Bus slots.

In addition to the lower bandwidth PCI slots, the P35 Neo’s ICH9 chipset also offers on-board IDE, Serial ATAII and high speed USB 2.0 controllers. With the P35 Neo, up to 2 Ultra ATA 100 hard drives and up to 5 Serial ATAII drives (300 MB/s) can be connected. The integrated USB 2.0 controller, meanwhile, offers of up to 12 high speed USB ports.

For audio, the P35 Neo offers an integrated High Definition link controller with Realtek 888 onboard surround audio. At the rear panel, the board has a 6-in-1 audio jack (S/SPDIF out).

Additional ports include floppy, serial, RJ45 and PS/2 connectors.
