Summary: Yo .....this is a good board. Only gave it 4 stars because of trouble messing with onboard sata. When you overclock (Im assuming thats what your buying this board for) use sata ports 3 and 4 not 1 and 2. The onboard sata controller has issues.
Summary: i'm not sure what was going on, but i could not format a hard drive using win xp install. tried two different hard drives (western digital). it gave me the 'unable to format -- you may have a bad drive' error.
Summary: I just received my new system from Newegg.com. AMD 64 bit 939 3000+, MSI K8N Neo2 platinum, Corsair 1GB dual memory, ACCES FAN|XCONTROLLER A2140 control, ASPIRE X-Dreamer II ATXB4KLW-BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply.
Summary: first of all id like to give 2- thumbs up to newegg :) its a great board, and havent had too many problems. got dual channel.. put it in the same colored slots (space between em) worked perfectly fine.
Summary: Awesome motherboard, works great for overclocking with my AMD Athlon 64 3000+ PIB! Only one problem so far, but it was a power connector that messed up, so I'm sending it back to MSI via RMA, but it's the only problem I've had! Likely just one of those one in a million messed up ones.
Summary: First lets start with the pro's and con's Pro's 1. 4 dimm slots 2. Motherboard layout 3. Very Very Fast 4. SUPERB for overclocking 5. MSI D-BRacket Con's 1. Board is picky with using 4 DIMMS 2. Location of IDE slots 3. IDE Slots to close to each other 4.
Summary: Tempted to give 4 stars but had too many issues, some related to the PSU but others I belive are the motherboard's fault. Two of the USB ports are just not reliable enough to plug anything in it, re-installing XP didn't fix the problem either.
Summary: Update the bios to the latest offical version (Atleast) Especialy if your going with the new venice or with a san diego chip. Overall, I can overclock pretty good on this motherboard, im a noob to O/Cing with a 64 and I have already overclocked my Venice 3000+ to a 3800+ and over.
Summary: http://www.msicomputer.com This is an excellent board as I personally know others with it. Unfortuneately for myself and others on various online forums, It seems this board in particular is somewhat prone to being defective either out of the box or shortly after.
Summary: I upgraded to this from a K7N Neo Platinum NForce 2 board and was suprised at how little this board overclocks when compared with the former. Mine is extremely picky about the FSB, voltage, RAM timings and oh, the DIMMs are the most tempermental thing I have ever seen.
