Not so great

Anonymous, Newegg
20 July 2015
  • Summary: I reviewed this product when I first bought it. I didn't I would have so many problems with it.
  • Pros: overall performance specs are fine
  • Cons: this thing is just weird. after owning it about a year, it started losing connection to my USB devices. i got an RMA refurb and the problems with that one are as follows: sometimes it takes forever for the BIOS to load up. once while in BIOS, I saw a strange pixilation on the screen. another time...

  • Summary: Build is this board with the following: FX-8370 Black Edition 16GB Kingston HyperX ASUS GTX 980 Zalman liquid cooler OCZ ZX1250 PSU OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 1TB WD Black HDD 640GB WD Black HDD
  • Pros: Looks good Decent layout Works great when I can keep one that works...
  • Cons: Warranty just ran out and this is my 3rd or so RMA, I forget seeing as how I've had to replace this thing so many times. First one died because the BIOS wouldnt update, next one just all out quit with no boot at all, turned on power and nothing but fans running. Now this one is only allowing 8gb ...

Used to be a Great Board

Michael S., Newegg
12 November 2014
  • Summary: After failure of the refurbished board MSI sent to replace the original, I gave up and ordered a new board from a different manufacturer. Historically, I have owned two other boards from this other manufacturer, and poor experiences with both boards are the reason I gave MSI a try in the first...
  • Pros: Great board for over two years. No complaints in all that time.
  • Cons: About two and a half years after building a brand new computer using this board, the SATA controller failed. Thankfully, it was still under warranty, so I was able to RMA the board to MSI at the cost of $13.xx in shipping, and they shipped me a refurbished board for a replacement. The refurbished...

Pretty but flawed

Anthony W., Newegg
15 August 2014
  • Summary: This board appears to have it all. Good price, great features and components that are build to last. Sadly for my build this was not the case. Had a heck of a time getting this board to be stable.
  • Pros: Solid feel, sleek, good layout and great included extras. The USB 3.0 add-on was nice. The SATA cables were a welcome addition as well as this allowed me to have all the internal cable match.
  • Cons: Under documented manual and no second power plug for Crossfire GPU setup or power hungry CPUs.

Marginal Board Due to BIOS and Software Issues

J. Ridge, Amazon
27 December 2013
  • Summary: Might be returning this board due to corrupted BIOS. Included software utilities are pretty crappy. Pressing OC Genie (overclock) button on board per instructions does not seem to work. Also could not get system to go into BIOS upon startup using DEL key, EVER!

I have two of these and both don't detect a 4th GPU

Lisa Gates, Amazon
10 August 2013
  • Summary: I have two of these and both don't detect a 4th GPU 99% of the time. I spent a week moving GPUs, trying different drivers but only very rarely was a 4th GPU detected, without a BSOD, if the PCs could even boot. Resetting CMOS and updating BIOS did nothing either.

Excellent Board But Overclock Fails

Anonymous, Newegg
10 April 2012
  • Summary: My BIOS Firmware was rev .80 I used live update to go to rev .90 My heart almost jumped while Flashing was going on when the computer abruptly shut down, I don't even feel like flashing was complete cause there was no confirmation.
  • Pros: The moment I posted this board went to the BIOS and was happy to see a almost fully updated Click Bios II which I love. This board is top notch slick and cool, SLI is the only real reason besides UEFI to get this board otherwise get 890FXA-GD70 It has two Ethernet ports and you can host your Vide...
  • Cons: Also this Board can't achieve 7.9 WEI for ram and processor While my 890FXA-GD70 did at 4.2Ghz same ram same stock fan same processor. It gets a WEI of 7.7 With a 4.0Ghz overclock stable. I get BOSD Errors and I'm Assuming this board is faulty But I want to know If I should RMA this within my 30 ...

Issues

andrew h., Newegg
8 September 2011
  • Summary: Got my board back from RMA runs but doesn't run like it should. Hope they come up with a new bios fast that will let you run 1600 memory or higher. I am VERY disappointed in MSI.
  • Pros: Runs and looks good doing it.
  • Cons: Does not run 1600 memory at all. Why would they put all these memory's on here if i doesn't even run 1600. Maybe i should have bought 2133 but maybe i shouldn't hahahah cuz it says you can on the box. The bios needs to be updated COMPLETELY re-done. cool set up but coolness doesn't operate the co...
