Summary: Like a lot of people, I got thrown by the bios update (though to be fair to MSI, I had crushed three pins on my FX4100, which probably goes a long way towards explaining the failures to POST). Once I got those straightened out, it seems to run beautifully.
Pros: Layout, features, price
Cons: One of the PCI slots is shot. Doesn't bother me enough to RMA, since I'm only using one PCI card, but diagnosing it was a bit of a pain.
Summary: Very good options for the money. I think there is a chance it misreads my core temps, either that or the stock cooler on the 955 is just pure bad. I probably wont Crossfire, since I like one powerful card, and this board is only 16x/4x. I don't think GSkill ram plays well with this board.
Pros: Solid construction, components seem to be of high quality, Easy-to-use BIOS, Everything fired up the first time I put it together. Runs stable despite the RAM issue described below. USB 3.0 and SATA III,
Cons: I can't verify where the issue is originating but there is a problem with RAM or memory controller. wouldn't recognize my 2x4GB sticks of Gskill 1600 9-9-9-24. Defaulted to 1333 at 11-11-11-28, I thought "It's okay, typical of AMD chipsets, just manually set them", Manually set to 1.5V at rated t...
Summary: Over this board is a good buy, though if you aren't saving money on the board, try for a 990 series. Most of the no posting issues are either due to not having the FX unlocked by flashing the bios or grounding which can be handled with a few rubber washers from the hardware store.
Pros: This board supports the new AMD FX line as well as the Phenom series
Cons: Must flash the bios to get the fx series to run using a phenom II processor. Board seems to have grounding issues
Summary: the board works fine once bios is updated. also i run 4 hard drives in raid 0 around 350 read and 280 write. also running a fx-8120, 8gb ddr3 1333mhz, gtx 285.
Pros: works fine once i figured this out but to install windows 7 or 8 if having issues clock the cpu with a multiplyer of 10 and ram to 800mhz and try to install without the turbo on. once i did this i stop having trouble installing win 7 or 8 beta thow windows xp installed fine.
Summary: Bought this with the knowledge it may not come with the correct BIOS for my AMD FX-4100, but I had a Phenom II standing by to allow me to flash it. Fortunately the motherboard came preloaded with BIOS v1.48 (the newest version, which is not even available on the MSI website).
Summary: Awesome board for the Money, tech support had me up and running within 24 hours ( use the email support make sure you give them the info on your ram as well Model etc especially if you are using non approved ram). If you dont flash the bios first you will think the board is DOA.....
Pros: Best Bang for your Buck, tons of features and options
Cons: Had to flash the bios in order to use AM3+ Bulldozer 8120 CPU.
Summary: was a little disappointed when upon first startup nothing happened. not even POST, but i happened to recall a comment, while reseaching, about a BIOS issue. I threw in an older Athlon II x2 240 chip i happen to have lying around and it booted right up.
Pros: good bang for buck
Cons: Required BIOS update before I could install AMD FX CPU
Summary: I don't care for the I/O shield. I like the chrome, this is color coordinated, but that is personal preference. No Case Badge?
Pros: I purchased this product a few months back and finally got to the assembly stage *w00t* Solid motherboard, everything is low profile so nothing is in the way of fans, cables etc. Fits well in my case ( Ultra Wizard ). Plenty of USB headers & SATA ports. Runs cool, color scheme is nice, I have no ...
