Summary: Purchased this board for my media PC, ended up replacing the Biostar TA970A in my gaming PC instead!! Both boards have the same chipsets and the same hardware, yet the MSI is twice as good. Memory never ran at 1866Mhz in the Biostar, no matter what the settings were at. Also, the Biostar claimed to have a UEFI BIOS, which looked exactly like the old BIOS with no GUI.
Pros: Bios has a very cool GUI that is a refreshing change from the plain BIOS we have grown to hate. DDR3-1866 memory recognized at 1866Mhz with no adjustments at all! Not a huge pro, but I love the horizontal SATA ports :) One of the higher end 970 boards I have seen.
Cons: No VRM heatsinks. There is however mounting holes for an add on heatsink so I will not deduct an egg for that.
Summary: I bought this as a motherboard replacement to an old one that was finally retired. Being an AM3+ motherboard, I slapped a 6300 in it and it's been running great ever since. Be forewarned though, as I've heard that anything above an 8320 has given this motherboard power issues. For that, I have to dock it a star, but otherwise, it works perfectly as intended. The BIOS is great as always and it includes a nice GUI, mouse support, easy OCing, and even an internet browser.
Summary: I purchased this MSI motherboard as a replacement board for an existing system. I matched up my current components -- having found others rating it highly. It hasn't disappointed. I continue to be a fan of MSI!
Summary: I ordered this board to replace an aging am3 motherboard in my flagship pc. Since I was upgrading to AM3+ I decided what the hay I'll get an fx8320 to replace my phenom ii t1100. Hands down the best improvement to my pc since my first ssd upgraded. this board has tons of cool features I can use in the future to really push this machine. It's been my miss fortune in the past that having integrated graphics has been a strain on the main board, that is why I chose this one.
Summary: I was going to use this for a build involving the fx 8320, but upon research, I realized that this has no VRM heatsink, so anything above 125w beware. I ended up using this with an fx 6300 and I regret nothing. The onboard audio was surprising to say the least. You get all the features you would normally get with a board that is 30 dollars more expensive.
Summary: cant ask for a better board for the price try and look, My old board was only 4 months old would not run crossfire for some reason it kept blue screening put this 1 in and it works great no problems.
Summary: Good product, solid design. I bought this mobo to serve as a case-mod project and it worked out really well. I attached a water cooler to my rig and I've experienced no overheating on any of the components surrounding the CPU. Great, product, great seller.
