still chuggin

Anonymous, Newegg
27 October 2014
  • Summary: overall, i cannot believe this board has lasted 4+ years so i gotta give it props for that but if you want to reach that long of a lifespan with this thing, you need to undervolt and NOT overclock the ram slots have given me much grief over the years, i cannot wait until i can upgrade my mobo.
  • Pros: was cheap in 2010 when i did my first ever build
  • Cons: last week another ram slot died, now i have 2 out of 4. i'm pretty sure this board killed one of my sticks of ram too 880g northbridge chipset with sb700 southbridge? what kind of blasphemy is that? i guess another way to make the board cheaper? msi why would you just leave all those vrm mosfets ...

Burning

Steve S., Newegg
18 August 2014
  • Summary: If MSI would like the mb to check why it burned, let me know.
  • Pros: Lasted 3yr 5 month
  • Cons: Bad death, was beside the computer and smelled burnt odor. The side cover was off, as I looked a spark came from the mb near the cpu. Spark became spurt of fire, then smoke. Pulled the power cord. Wonder what would have happened if no one was available to pull the plug?

Cheap but lasted just over 2 years.

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Pros: Cheap in price.
  • Cons: Cool and quiet doesn't work, look at other reviews. Not good at all for overclocking, research it unlike I did. Blew 2 transistors (vrms?) next to CPU socket, now stuck in boot loop. Lasted just over 2 years.

Worst RMA service

Skyler G., Newegg
10 September 2013
  • Summary: Will not recommend this brand to anyone. Should have stuck with a Dell.
  • Pros: Lasted 2 years
  • Cons: RMA service has a 5 to 15 business day turn around. Which means that my client will be without a motherboard for the entire time. No advance RMA parts even with a credit card number.

Worked for a couple of years

Keith S., Newegg
14 May 2013
  • Summary: Am extremely dissapointed with this product as it died on me on Mother's Day and I had only had the product for 2 years. This is the shortest life span of any mother board I have ever had and am not very happy with MSI right now.
  • Pros: Ran fast and was happy with it until it just out and out died.
  • Cons: While I know nothing is made to last forever, not lasting more than 2 years is pretty pathetic. So much for "military grade" as it was kept in a nice clean environment and taken care of and didn't last more than 2 years.

Joshua H., Newegg
7 May 2013
  • Summary: Unit popped and sparked now won't turn on. Called MSI and it's going to take a few weeks to RMA. No option for advanced RMA or upgrade. Not very good service from MSI
  • Pros: Easy install, small, decent value
  • Cons: Not great service from MSI

Good board

Shane Y., Newegg
10 March 2013
  • Pros: Not to pricey has tuns of ports and 4 ram slots.
  • Cons: The board would not clock the CPU properly I had to manually set it up to run at its clock speed of 3.1GHZ easy fix but if you're less techy then you may think its broken.

User Review

Noel V., Newegg
16 February 2013
  • Pros: Worked great for at least a year plus. Thought It would be all I needed. Installation was fine and documentation was sufficent.
  • Cons: Cons were Now it doesn't want to even boot to the msi 880-e41 screen. It goes to never never land. This board was not over clocked and was used basicly twice a week.

MSI 880g-E45

Anonymous, Newegg
26 January 2013
  • Summary: Do not buy spend a little extra for quality
  • Pros: It runs well at first.
  • Cons: I have replaced this board twice. It works well at first then bits the dust. Dvi port stopped working blue screen after running for a few hours. I would like a different type of board but I have had no luck getting a hold of anyone at msi.
