Early Legacy practices by Intel

Michael B., Newegg
10 February 2014
  • Pros: This is a flagship board and as good as it gets..
  • Cons: SO.... why did I pan it? Because only 2 years later Intel has 'legacy'd' this board and I can't get current Windows 8.1 drivers for it! This is highway robbery. Who ever heard of ending support for a 2 year old component? Well.. if you're made of money go for Intel boards.... they are near perfec...

Run like hell

Peter R., Newegg
15 October 2011
  • Summary: I am either shipping this piece of junk back to intel or perhaps Monday I will video tape burning it up and upload it to U Tube.
  • Pros: If it weighted more it would make a very expensive door stop.
  • Cons: It starts to boot up and stop a E8. live support is closed on the weekend no. I called Intel motherboard's support and ask them about bios problems with this board before I ordered it. They lied through their corporate teeth and said they updated the bio two month ago and there is no problems now...

Not recommended

JAMES S., Newegg
21 July 2011
  • Summary: Don't fall for the hype: this board has problems. Keep to the "middle of the road" on memory (1GB, 1333MHZ).
  • Pros: Packaging and appearance. Plus a few cool stickers for small children to enjoy!
  • Cons: No documentation included. Not compatible with most memory kits (including some on the Intel HCL). Angle of SATA heads makes wiring everything up in tight spaces virtually impossible. Will not boot with any more than two sticks of memory installed.

WAY too buggy

Anonymous, Newegg
12 July 2011
  • Summary: Stick with another company like ASUS, MSI, or Gigabyte for motherboards, and Intel should just stick with SSD's and processors.
  • Pros: Looks cool...
  • Cons: I have 12 gigs of Corsair XMS3 and it will only post with one stick in. I heard it had RAM problems, but I thought it was just people not knowing what they were talking about. I updated the BIOS, changed the RAM timings, and did every other thing I could think of. Nothing worked. Usually I stick ...

Failed from the start, Intel CS a nightmare

W. Johnson, Amazon
10 April 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this board as an upgrade to the earlier version, the DX58SO. I liked the 6 RAM slots, USB 3.0 and other advanced features. I pulled all the peripherals from the older board and would then upgrade to 24 GB of RAM to run VM's and take advantage of the 6gb SATA interface.

Didn't work

Mark V. Raugas, Amazon
10 April 2011
  • Summary: Arrived dead; would not post. Did some web searching and found other people as well who would only get a 0x00 post code and no actual boot. Removed everything to troubleshoot, except CPU, and still wouldn't proceed past the first post code.

Intel disappoints!!

Anonymous, Newegg
31 March 2011
  • Summary: Put everything back on my trusty X58A-UD3R and back in business. This is the SECOND Intel board that has given me grief, and the last one was a server class board. Not cool.
  • Pros: Dual Intel LAN, SLI and Crossfire support.
  • Cons: Terrible bios both from a usability and stability standpoint. SATA3 uses the awful Marvel controller so good luck using an SSD on these ports. Back to bios did not work and had to move config jumper when bios froze, and it froze A LOT. Could not do a clean install of Windows. Constantly blue scre...
