  • Summary: In theory, the power use should be nice and low, but haven't profiled.
  • Pros: Cheap, functional. No notable performance problems.
  • Cons: BIOS is a nightmare. English is unclear, and no description is provided in many cases where it is necessary. Ignored my specified boot order until I swapped it to "advanced" mode. Very loud. This system is probably twice the volume of my i7 system with four times as many fans.

  • Summary: I would still recommend this one, if you are able to do some improvements, or willing to send board back if you happen to have one which is not of good quality.
  • Pros: Cheapish and very good for Freenas based NAS.
  • Cons: Stock fan is very loud. There are other nice recommendations in this chain. Worked nice for first month, then Freenas started to hang up when ever there was anything more than minimal load (i.e. more than 3 simultaneous file transfers). Finally after 5 months I started to think about HW problems,...

not good enough for web server cluster

Beracah Y., Newegg
15 June 2009
  • Summary: Streaming was just fine. For 5 connections, and using wget to localhost, I was able to stream nearly the full disk bandwidth of 240MB/s off of the SSDs, and 125MB/s over the GigE. So this server would be just fine for streaming.
  • Pros: - cheap - low power - small form factor - equiv to P4 2Ghz The reason that I picked this board was largely because I needed a satellite node to deliver content from static caches for a website. Nothing CPU-bound, and I paired it with OCZ vertex SSD's targetting sub ms latencies, and considering t...
  • Cons: So, I was disappointed because interrupt handling of the network connections is actually cpu bound, and the atom boards turned out to be really slow when handling lots of incoming connections. i.e. < 10 connects it could handle within 1 ms, but 20 it jumped up to 10ms, and 50 connections, 20ms, a...

Finally works

Anonymous, Newegg
13 April 2009
  • Summary: If using Intel desktop utilities, make sure to change the core voltage threshold setting to avoid constant alerts. I set mine to 0.5-2 volts. The board is working as a print server. If proves to be reliable, I will make it my home router too.
  • Pros: Small. Low power. Dual core. Good value for money. High resolution graphics. 1Gbit ethernet. Parallel port for legacy printers.
  • Cons: Has trouble recognizing HD and optical drive on one IDE cable (-1 eggs). I tried WD, Maxtor and Hitachi in every combination of M/S arrangement. Hitachi was the only IDE HD that was recognized but will not work with optical drive on one cable. My 2 other Intel MBs do not have this problem. Eventu...

ok for some things

  • Summary: Although I didn't find this board suitable for my needs, that doesn't make it bad. It's a nicely built board, very functional, and for the average user should be fine. Would be GREAT fora home server base....had it included more SATA ports.
  • Pros: Small board. Low power consumption. Stable. Very silent operation.
  • Cons: Bought this to replace my slowly dying D201GLY2a board in my carpc. Was hoping the dual 1.6Ghz cores would speed up boot times. WRONG. It tripled my boot times. With the D201GLY board (1.2GHZ Celeron) I had a boot time of 17 seconds which included the Bios screen (which took forever itself) With ...

It works (and lets you know it)

Mikë, Amazon

  • Summary: After reading other reviews I decided to purchase this Intel board and an Antec 40mm fan. Sure enough, in under two weeks it started to sound like a cat fight. I voided the warranty and replaced the noisy fan with the Antec - noise problem solved.

Mb fan is busted...

Someone, Amazon
25 November 2008
  • Summary: After two weeks the fan is louder than my new garbage disposal. The mb specs are great for the price point, but the fan needs to be replaced. Has anyone found a drop in replacement?
