Update

Gregory B., Newegg
30 September 2009
  • Summary: I doubt that my roommate will notice the difference between DDR2-533 and DDR2-667, but is truth in advertising really so much to ask?
  • Pros: This is an update of my previous review.
  • Cons: I just built a second system using this same board. This time, I went with G.Skill instead of Kingston. And guess what? The board STILL runs the memory at 533 mhz instead of 667 mhz. So it's not Kingston's fault... it's Intel's fault. Intel designs good chips, but can't make motherboards worth cr...

Dissatisfied

Lee C., Newegg
15 January 2009
  • Summary: Don't be surprised if the fan goes bad
  • Pros: Cheap
  • Cons: Poor quality fan, started somewhat quiet but after 3 days started being very noisy. LAN must be disable to install ubuntu 8.04, and will not function in Ubuntu 8.04 unless upgraded, not normally a problem but I bought it to run EMC2, an application that is tweaked for 8.04.

Bad unit?

Florence R., Newegg
12 September 2008
  • Summary: 1Gbit ethernet would have been nice (or least a different chip) Less hungry chipset also. The Atom CPU is not bad, but not much better then Celeron 220 (D201GLY2 board). S-Video would be also nice. Overall, not a bad device (for that price), if the flows are solved.
  • Pros: Decent price, decently equipped. Can take up to 2GB of RAM.
  • Cons: The graphics card did not work for me. Vertical stripes, probably a sync problem. Tried WinXP (with provided drivers), Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Knoppix, no help. It would stay there, independent of monitor type (2xLCD, 1xCRT). I returned it (and got D201GLY2), bu it could have been a bad unit. Another pr...

Bad network chip

JX, Amazon
6 August 2008
  • Summary: Had this board for about 2 years now, and then the network chip finally failed Christmas eve 2011. This is the second time an intel ATOM mini-itx board combo NIC has failed. I am really taken aback seeing that, that the nic fails so soon after. My other atom 510 nic failed within a year of use !
