Summary: This mother board installed very easy. Powered up on first try. And runs incredibly fast and is very efficient. I mated this with a new processor (Intel Core i7-4770 Quad-Core Desktop Processor ) and a new power supply (Corsair Professional Series HX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold) tested with this chip. After the set time frame the whole system will hibernate and become silent. When I want to start using the computer.
Summary: Came as the newest firmware (rev1.1) and works to this day superbly. I love the BIOS and the options for OCing. It's overall a great board, especially if you plan on expanding in the next 3-5 years. It will definitely last you a long time.
Summary: I am a retired Information Systems Management Professional. I have built over 1,000 PCs starting way, way back. I purchased this board to switch to i7-4xxx series processors. I was excited when I received this motherboard but I was NOT excited when I pulled the CPU protecting cover off. I noticed right off the bat at least THREE bent CPU pins on the motherboard. This is NOT the first time this has happened but its the first for Gigabyte.
Summary: Luckily for me, I’ve never had a firmware update malfunction on a motherboard – if we are paying extra the dual bios… is it really necessary?
Pros: Good overall design
Cons: The CPU FAN / CPU OPT / SYS FAN2 headers are placed in a somewhat non-standard place on the motherboard. The pin below the socket and in the center of the motherboard kind of messed up some cable management for me
Summary: I ordered two of these for different builds (my first two) but one never worked right out of the box and the replacement failed after about one week. So I'm going to go in another direction with a AMD chip/board with the second build. The board that works has been great.... knock on wood. It overclocks with ease and has tons of features I'm still learning to take advantage of. I probably made a mistake for being a early adopter of these.
