Summary: Devices constantly cutting out and an assortment of issues is making me doubt if I'm going to purchase another Gigabyte motherboard. And yes, the BIOS version is current.
Pros: Many USB ports, cheap, mostly reliable.
Cons: Arrived with one faulty RAM slot. I had a bunch of issues doing the first time start up because of this. It caused the entire system to be inoperable if anything was in that slot, giving out an error code. Other issues are with the on board hub 3.0 slots cutting out randomly. It only seems to aff...
Summary: After reading more about Gigabyte, I found out this is actually a common issue with their USB controllers. Specs: -i5 3570k 4.0Ghz -8GB Ram -Geforce GTX 770 SC -750TX Corsair 750W PSU -128GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD
Pros: The board itself runs great with the hardware I have, besides the cons.
Cons: Nothing but issues with the USB slots. They caused the computer to randomly freeze requiring to hard reset the PC. I had to disable Legacy USB to get the freezing to stop, which resulted in my keyboard not working in post. Also, when there were multiple USB devices plugged in, all of them would s...
Pros: board looks grate match my case has SLI /crossire
Cons: not sure if i got a bad one or what but when I try to OC my i5 3570k with this motherboard can only get 4.0 ghz stable out of it was really disappointed with that even my old bord which was alot cheaper z77-HD3 could easly get 4.6 to 4.8 stable
Summary: I was split between this board and another in the price range, maybe I was just unlucky with the board but make sure to do all your research
Pros: Black PCB looks nice, tons of 3.0 USB. Bios is simple and effective
Cons: I had this board for about a week and every once and a while it would take a try or two to power up successfully. Eventually, the board would not reach POST more than 90% of the time. I eventually troubleshooted everything, the psu was fine, ram was moved, bread boarded it, removed the board from...
Summary: Im have some problems with this motherboard. The hdmi fails after loading screen either in Windows or in Mac OS (hackintosh). Everything else works fine, but i had to add a video card since the onboard video doesnt work anymore. If someone knows how to fix it i will apreciate it. Thanks
Summary: Really hoping Gigabyte develops a fix for this because in all honesty I really like the Board. Would have given 5 stars had I not had this problem.
Pros: Well constructed board with plenty of ram, usb and pci capability. Be aware there are no IDE connections. Had to buy a sata cd/dvd drive. Not really a big deal though. Overall easy install.
Cons: Cannot access the Bios. Yep thats right I tried flashing and loading several times even with the provided software utilities but I still cannot access the Bios. On occasion I am able to bring up the Bios menu but my keyboard and mouse are useless. I cant navigate in any way.
Summary: The motherboard does not have BIOS/UEFI driven USB 3.0 drivers so if you plug in a device to a USB 3 port it will not work when installing Windows 7. This is a serious design flaw in BIOS/UEFI and should have been added.
Summary: Well as much as I wanted to like this board I had no choice but to return this item due to USB problems that many people have reported about. I don't know If this is a gigabyte problem in general or only effects the z77 architecture but the Usb 3.0 drivers on this board are a complete mess.
