Maybe my board came from a bad lot...

Ringochan, Amazon
14 August 2014
  • Summary: I've been using it for over 2 years. It was dead once and I got it exchanged under warranty. Gigabyte sent me a replacement fairly quickly, but the refurbished board I received wasn't really perfect. The SSD goes dead once in a while and I have to reset the cache setting to restore it.

BSOD

Wei L., Newegg
19 May 2013
  • Pros: Pros: Enough Serial ATA ports and on-board mSATA expansion lot. Working fine for 1.5 years after purchase.
  • Cons: I started getting very frequent BSOD and crashes. I have just tried flashing BIOS to different revs,SATA cables, hard drives, etc and nothing worked. I think I am going to contact Gigabyte and RMA to see anything helps. After reading the updated comments here, I realized that, obviously, I am not...

Serial Port Issues

Anonymous, Newegg
17 April 2013
  • Pros: Have had for a few months - bought a few for builds at work... Have worked fairly decent.
  • Cons: The biggest issue I have found so far is the serial port. According to the device manager - "This device is working properly" - but it is not. I cannot even get a simple loop-back to work - it appears that no communications are getting through...

Great until it failed.

Mike M., Newegg
9 April 2013
  • Summary: I too am getting boot loops. The error logs reveal the SATA 0 controller is failing. Swapped systemboard to an identical known good system, new OS load, issue happened again. Not sure if I will RMA it since the cost to ship will not be cheap.
  • Pros: Features, msata, SATAIII.
  • Cons: SATA 0 controller failed after about 18 mos.

Good Motherboard if you don't need more than 8GB RAM

Michael N., Newegg
23 March 2013
  • Pros: I have this motherboard for a year now and it is pretty stable. I got the boot loop problem initially and had to RMA the motherboard to Gigabyte. I've been using the replacement motherboard for a year now with 8GB RAM until today when I decided to upgrade the memory to 16GB and the boot loop prob...
  • Cons: Can't use more than 8GB RAM even though the spec says it supports 32GB RAM. The supported memory list on the Gigabyte support site is pretty out of date. How can you put in 32GB RAM using 1/2GB sticks with only 4 slots?

Where did my on board network adapter go?

Chad C., Newegg
22 November 2012
  • Pros: I can't really complain about anything else board has worked great
  • Cons: I was able to use on board Network adapter, for about a month, from that point on I have a PCI card for a network adapter. What can be done about this?

Decent enough

Michael J., Newegg
12 September 2012
  • Summary: Works great for a early build, but I wish I had known that this mobo had this issue. I would recommend this as a beginner board, but if you're planning on keeping it for a long time, I would get a better one.
  • Pros: It's a great mobo, has tons of features, even if the layout is a bit awkward at times. Personally, it worked great for me untill........
  • Cons: As of today (about 6 months after I got it) I got the "unfixable cold boot error." Am currently waiting on Gigabyte to offer help, and will probably contact Newegg to RMA this if Gigabyte doesn't offer a solution for this. (I have heard that Gigabyte's customer service is........lacking, to say t...

Stuck in reboot

Daniel C., Newegg
7 June 2012
  • Pros: Board seemed to work fine for first three months, fast, USB 3.0.
  • Cons: Now I am stuck in a reboot loop. Posted the following to the Gigabyte site: System keeps rebooting without ever getting to Windows Boot Screen. Message on screen. "Main BIOS Checksum Error" "Retrieving source from HPA HPA Bios not available" "Retrieving Recovery source from backup bios... ...Done...
