It worked good for over 4 yrs... sort of...

Daniel M., Newegg
5 January 2016
  • Summary: This board has a lot to offer, but it also has some qwerks, I was hoping it would last longer, my previous build lasted over 5yrs and was crapping out due to capacitors I was excited this had the solid capacitors, which should theoretically extend the life of the board - it didn't exactly live up to...
  • Pros: Lots of features/ports, versatile
  • Cons: Had a hard time setting up a OCZ SSD drive when I first built the rig, I did finally get it all working, but occasionally the system would lock up, BSOD, and reboot (I've always put the blame on the OCZ drive - it was significantly cheaper then the competitors at the time) - it may do this twice ...

Good performer, but buggy

Michael P., Newegg
21 July 2015
  • Summary: This is probably the last time I buy a Gigabyte board. I have been buying them for over 10 years. But when they won't make it right when they mess up and something is wrong, and they lay the cost on the consumer - it only shows that they do not care about their customers.
  • Pros: Good price, solid performer, a lot of features.
  • Cons: Does not support anything past 2nd generation Corei series intel processors despite what they say; tech support could not get mine to work. Had to abandon it and buy an older one. Also, the machine has crashed with 3 separate SSD's now and tech support insists there must be something wrong with t...

BIOS wasn't always the best, and it took them about a year before ...

E. J. Canales, Amazon
28 May 2015
  • Summary: So I've had this motherboard Since July of 2012. For the most part, it's been okay. BIOS wasn't always the best, and it took them about a year before they released the UEFI update (which made things better.) UEFI made things better, boot times faster and definitely more pleasing.

Alright board

Kyle M., Newegg
20 December 2013
  • Pros: The price was pretty good for the features it had and worked well in my system for about a year and a half.
  • Cons: After about a year and a half my computer started boot looping. Power on and shut down multiple times. Every once in a while it will boot (usually after about 2-10 reset cycles.) Tried upgrading BIOS to UEFI and the problem is still there. Also the board doesn't overclock very well. Requires more...

Known Issues with Bios on this Board get Z77

Bill, Amazon
7 July 2013
  • Summary: Well Installed the MB and seemed to work got 1 beep which means good boot up to Post Bios Screen, tried 2 different keyboards and could not get into bios. Then it just started rebooting. I Checked online and known problems with same issues. Looks like this might be fixed with the z77 chips.

Nice Features, mine didn't work as advertised

Adrian L., Newegg
8 January 2013
  • Summary: I will update later, after i here back from GIGABYTE concerning my issue.
  • Pros: Loved all the ports and connections for the price.
  • Cons: 32GB of Ram just doesn't work. Very dissapointed, after ensuring each stick and slot was good, trying every tweak in the interwebs, still unable to handle 32gb. 1-3 Sticks work fine, but the fourth makes everything EXTREMELY sluggish. Easy Tune 6 doesn't seem to work either.

Issues after a few months

K3J D., Newegg
28 December 2012
  • Pros: Nice selection of option. Worked well for a few months. It can be easily overclocked with by the system or you can configure the settings yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. I like the way it was designed without a monitor hook up since i have a killer graphics card i would never use the o...
  • Cons: Like many of the reviews stated. It doesn't last long. Mine started giving me an errors. sometimes when i would reboot my system. The error stated there was a issues with overclocking and the system had to use default settings. No problem as i don't really overclock it anyway. That error was rare...

BSOD after 1 year

david m., Newegg
26 December 2012
  • Summary: I love working with Gigabyte boards but not sure I want something that dies after a year. I got another model and I hope it lasts. It booted right up and updated easily. Computers - can't live with them and can't live without them.
  • Pros: It was a nice board in its day but there is no reason to buy a Z68 board with the Z77 boards out there today for the same price. Not sure why Newegg still sells these.
  • Cons: After a year of great service, I started getting BSOD and crashes. Tried updating the BIOS, replaced PSU, cables, hard drives, etc and nothing worked until I replaced the motherboard. That solved the problem. My thought is that there is a short somewhere on the board. I got an RMA into gigabyte a...

Just to add to what I said a bit ago

Michael W., Newegg
29 November 2012
  • Pros: Still runs for the most part
  • Cons: My board will not take the new UEFI bios, it scans it then says it doesn't match when using Qflash. Not trying the software flash cause I don't want a brick.

I have grown to hate this board

Michael W., Newegg
29 November 2012
  • Summary: I've tried with 3 different graphics cards, different memory, same cpu, 2 different psu's it does it no matter what I do and it's completely random with no bsod screens. My next board purchase will probably not be Gigabyte, besides the boot looping (which only really gets you while overclocking)...
  • Pros: Been almost a year now and it still runs and does most things I need.
  • Cons: -Extremely unstable over clocker and has gotten worse over the past 6months. I don't overclock anymore because of this. -Random freezes are the issue here, never get any bsods. -Any change to the bios risks it boot looping anymore, just loading the bios and resetting causes it to boot loop at tim...
