Four good years but BIOS update for WIn10 ended it.

james s., Newegg
19 October 2015
  • Pros: The board served me well. I kept it in average 80 degree Fahrenheit and it it lasted four years. I do have two extra large fans in my case to help with that.
  • Cons: I never could get the Intel Smart Response to work with my OCZ SSD, even with tech support. Other than that I didn't have any issues until upgrading to Win10. I was having both extremely slow boots and boot hangs. It also wouldn't see all my USB drives. None of the Gigabyte drivers are updated fo...

Black Beauty

Thomas E. Williams "diddleydaddy", Amazon
16 January 2014
  • Summary: First off, I loved the look of this board. The uniform darkness pulled me in and I continued the theme with black Corsair memory and water cooler. It worked pout of the box and ran uneventfully for about 14 months, at which point it began boot looping.

RMA complete and successful

Thomas W., Newegg
6 January 2014
  • Pros: Previously reported problem of looping (11/15/13) corrected in RMA. Motherboard is working fine now. RMA process took about a month.
  • Cons: Had trouble using Gigabyte's online RMA process - my RMA was not tracked by the online system. Use phone contact to facilitate RMA process and find its status.

Great Board

Kevin D., Newegg
5 June 2013
  • Pros: Great board! Haven't had any problems with the hardware. Decent price, allows for SLI or Crossfire if you like. Plenty of expansion slots and usb headers, for 2.0 and 3.0 lots of slots for sata cables easy to overclock using the bios and included software
  • Cons: some of the bundled software is unstable... I would stay away from most of it. Some of it caused crashes and would freeze up the computer. You really don't need most of it. Anything you need from the gigabyte bundled software can be changed in the bios itself.

Not as bad as people let on

Tara M., Newegg
28 March 2013
  • Summary: But you didn't buy this for the UEFI/touch bios, did you? I have gotten the boot loop that people mention, but it was me setting the memory to 1866mhz. I've got the "CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866" kit and I can only get it to run at 1600 max so far.
  • Pros: Ivy Bridge compatible bios (F12) included (using with 3570k), straightforward setup if you ignore the junkware they want you to install (see other). Rev 1.3 of this board (which is what I got ordering here) seems to have solved the common problems with this board that people have been complaining...
  • Cons: Bios is slow to POST (my laptop boots before this POSTs), boot loop on memory clock problems (fixable with power cycle and resetting multiplier), UEFI update is beta and buggy but I have no interest in it, Can't clock RAM to 1866 without the boot loop (could be voltages) Price could be knocked do...

User Review

Nicolas R., Newegg
5 March 2013
  • Pros: The board has nice features, plenty of connectors that I use. I'm not personally using the OC features (or RAID, for that matter). Great support all-around for CPU, RAM, etc... It was fairly simple to install and set up too. Looks pretty good all around. But keep in mind this is a Day 1 review so...
  • Cons: The board has a couple of problems I noticed when installing it. Mostly annoyances though. Initially, I was trying to set up my video card at the bottom PCI express x16 slot then I realized it overlapped over one of the 2 PCI slots when I put the card in. Had to move it to the top one since my wi...

  • Pros: works good
  • Cons: I thought this was supposed to come with an SLi bridge? It didn't, good thing EVGA is nice enough to make up for your sloppy work and send me one.

Great board with a lot of features.

Dustin J., Newegg
18 December 2012
  • Summary: I recommend this if you can get it on sale for less than $110. Otherwise, go for a board with more features for the same price.
  • Pros: Have had no trouble with this board. The layout looks great, awesome design, well organized BIOS, VERY stable even with a decent overclock on my chip (4.5GHz Core i5-2500K). 4+1 MOSFET layout, good temps on the capacitors. Stays reasonably cool.
  • Cons: Minor complaints. I wish the board had the CPU power port more towards the bottom of the board. Most modern cases have the PSU mount at the bottom of the case, so logically it would make sense for the layout of the ports to take that into consideration. I wish there was one or two more PCI-E 16x ...

Nice board but boot loop random.

Andy R., Newegg
26 November 2012
  • Summary: Price has not changed since last year when I bought this, which means it is still considered a good board. Maybe with a specific memory brand, hard drive, and video card this boot looping will not be an issue. I understand it can be hard to test every make and model of memory, cpu, gpu, hd...
  • Pros: I love the board overall and most of the time it is not a problem. There is something weird that happens with the boot looping indeed where it either will boot with no problem or just loop 1 - 3 times and sometimes it will say that it looks like I've overclocked my memory and that it has turned m...
  • Cons: I have swapped out all parts except CPU and has made no difference. I have found leaving it on 24/7 ensures no boot looping but it also raises up my electric bill. It does assists me with troubleshooting issues remotely from work... but would be great if I could do WOL with it not getting stuck o...

Excellent mobo for price

David A., Newegg
19 November 2012
  • Summary: I don't really use this for gaming, but i wanted a board that was not obsolete, but not super high performance. This mobo will last me for a few years with plenty of room for expansion for what I need it for
  • Pros: Has many wanted features in a mobo that you can ask for with a great price tag
  • Cons: The ONLY issue I really found was the splash screen... hideous!
