Summary: I think some people in giving reviews for this board should pay attention to which bios they are flashing their boards too instead of saying it ate all types of PSU and other hardware, there are no F6 or F8 Bios for this board just F2, F3b.
Pros: rock solid board, great connectivity, stable overclocks
Summary: Newegg is one of the most professional looking, and ran retail websites I've ever used. Kudos Newegg. This was my second complete build (I've done many PC upgrades though). I wanted some 'crunch' power for heavy audio processing using lots of VST plug-ins in 32 Bit/44.1kHz audio.
Pros: Excellent board, new tech. An audio tech. from Native Instruments told me the Intel X48 will allow both PC and Mac OS configurations simultaneously, using separate hard drives depending on which you boot to. Haven't verified that though. I love Gigabyte's layout on their boards, and their excelle...
Cons: I bought recommended 2GB OCZ Reaper HPC 1066 RAM chips for the board with the Intel Core 2 Quad (Q6660) CPU (running WinXP SP3), but the system was not stable. I added some spare 2GB of Corsair DD2 800 RAM and the system runs in Flex memory, but is very stable. I plan to match the OCZ with some f...
Summary: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN OLDER CPU SO YOU CAN REFLASH TO F2 IF NECESSARY! ONE EGG OFF BECAUSE OF THAT FACT WHICH GIGABYTE MAKES VERY DIFFICULT TO DISCOVER!
Pros: Fast with tons of expansion and onboard options
Cons: Although it may say it supports a certain CPU, it might not out of the box. I used an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz and the system wouldn't give any beep codes nor would it POST. it simply turned itself on and off over and over and over again. The reason being that gigabyte ships it with the f1...
Cons: Mounting the stock heat sink of an Intel Core 2 Duo was very very difficult. Buggy drivers on its disc, only install the ethernet drivers so you can download better ones from each individual website. Mediocre instructions, typos everywhere (evidence of poor product quality assurance).
Summary: It looked awsome. I personally love the color of gigabyte boards. But there bios and lack of features steer me away from them.
Pros: It has very good quality, Booted up first time, looks very nice, Good layout, Crossfire support @ 16x16.
Cons: The bios is terrible. Gigabyte doesn't give exact voltage for anything. Its +.200,+.150. After while it gets anoying. Did not overclock a Q6600 well at all. On another board I can easily get 3.4ghz this I couldn't even get 3.0ghz. This board also needs onboard CMOS reset button and on/off button....
Summary: Shopping for 2 X 4870s. How low can they go...?
Pros: Got it up rinning W$ in 2 hours including putting case, HSF, drives, etc. together. NV120 HSF fits into Thermaltake M9 mid tower case, tight but nice. E8500 hit 3.8 GHz on stock voltage. Max 32 C in Prime95. X48 at 30 C stable, no movement. Have blown F2 Bios in Window$.
Cons: HD Audio gave me a scare. Answer "line out" when plugging speakers into line out. Get memory sticks without fins, at least for the first set.
