Best board for the money

Anonymous, Newegg
16 March 2010
  • Summary: If you're interested in getting the best performance to price ratio, buy this board
  • Pros: I bought this board because I felt I would not use the added features of the 790FX chipset. I didn't need onboard video or e-sata, nor did I need to spend an extra $30 to get those features. This board is priced perfectly, it has all the features you could ever want and more. The Bios settings ar...

Rock stable

Dennis B., Newegg
10 March 2010
  • Pros: Completely stable, although I've only bumped the overclocking a bit so far. Running Windows 7 64-bit without a hiccup.
  • Cons: Couldn't get it to unlock extra cores, but that's really not the motherboard's fault or purpose.

Great Value

Ted S., Newegg
9 March 2010
  • Summary: Unless you have a very large case, the slightly smaller than normal ATX size makes the edge mount SATA ports easier to access.
  • Pros: Great overall quality with decent heatsinks on the northbridge and VRM. Very good VRM design with 8+2 phase power. BIOS has ACC and numerous settings to help get the most out of your CPU.
  • Cons: Nothing major but very tight spacing on the AM3 socket and the first memory slot. Couldn't use the first memory slot with Xigmatek HDT-1283 in place. Fits if memory is placed first and then put on CPU cooler but that is a pain.

User Review

Michael C., Newegg
7 March 2010
  • Pros: Works great. Have had zero problems. I love the blue look. I got a case with blue LEDs and some blue RAM so my rig looks really slick through my case window.
  • Cons: The audio jack thing is EXTREMELY far away from my front audio jack for my case. In fact I would say it is located as far as it possibly could be from the top front of my case. The wire from the front audio jack doesnt even make it halfway to the connector, but this is really only a minor inconve...

  • Summary: AMD Phenom II X4 955, Gigabyte GV R4672L-1GIRT video card, CORSAIR|CMPSU-650TX 650W RT power supply, 2Gx2|PATRIOT PGV34G1333ELK RT DDR 3 memory, all in a LIANLI|BLACK PC-K62 RT case. Windows 7 64bit OS
  • Pros: Easy install and hookup. Win Experience Index is 7.3
  • Cons: Had to call Gigabyte and find out that I needed to hook my optical drive to SATA port #5, after that no problems. The rebate offer sucks, Gigabyte really makes it difficult. First they try to rip off $2 for fast processing then about 3 pages of info to complete, then print rebate page and then yo...

Nice build package

Chris W., Newegg
1 March 2010
  • Summary: Have not done much overclocking yet as still setting up my system software, but I am stable at DDR1333 with manual timing of 7-7-7-21-2T, per memtest 84 and primes 95. Use prime95 v25.9 build 4 to stress all 4 cores at the same time in 64 bit.
  • Pros: I made my computer rebuild based upon a build guide from the folks at anantech for a mid range AMD machine. Per those specs, I purchased the Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P board, the Henka Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition CPU, the Gskill Ripsaw F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 2x2gb ram, the POWE...
  • Cons: The ATX_12v_2x4 power plug in port was hard to get to after my heatsink was installed. I have a huge case. I could see where others with a smaller case might have difficulty accessing their six sata ports on the inside edge of the board once installed. Guys, read the manual before you complain ab...

GA-MA790XT

guillermo r., Newegg
1 March 2010
  • Summary: Got this motherboard back in march 09, a big plus for Gigabyte for being one of the frist to soport AM3 , the memory was a little bit of a hip at the beging , the cpu only soport 1333, but now you can but some 2000 or 2133 memory set and down clock it, i feel like i lost some money on the menory.
  • Pros: Solid motherboard, runing stable for a year now,8X muilt for memory for future prof, heat pipes and extra copper made it a solid board. Will unlock CPU with ACC
  • Cons: spend a lot more time than i wanted to tweaking this board, did not outperform my AM2+ BOARD with same CPU and cheapo 5 5 5 15 DD2 memory at 1100 mhz, my bad ,my 1600mhz 9 9 9 24 will only do 7 7 7 20 at 1066mhz, my bad ,low understanding of the new K10 system, wish it had more volted control over ...

  • Summary: If you have more money get a better one but this will surely do the job...
  • Pros: Great supports DDR3, and my Phenom X4 II 3.2GHZ quad core
  • Cons: Only supports ATI Crossfire so this motherboard cannot support SLI like the intel x58 Motherboards But I knew that when I was buying the product

  • Summary: Research first prior to buying your computer parts with out knowledge. you can't stick together crossfirex or Hybird crossfire with an nvidia card and try to install nvidea drivers on an AMD 790X + SB750 Chipset (made for ati). And u still thinking that the nvidea drivers were suppost to work.
  • Pros: 1- Extremely Rock Solid motherboard 2- Is GIGABYTE 3- Lot of options
  • Cons: Is not free
