Summary: LAST YEAR (11 months ago), My old Gigabyte board (K8NS Pro) went out on me due to some COMPUTER TECHIE at COMP-USA repair shop (in NE Columbia,SC) forgetting that you can't re-use old thermal grease when you pull out a CPU (that was 6 months after their "warranty repair" so no Biggie).
Summary: I bought this board a while ago and kept it in the closet "planning" on building it for my TV. Finally whipped it out and it wont get past the post. Just sits there. So I thought it was the board... switched it out to the new v1.3 and the same thing is happening.
Pros: Great price. HDMI onboard. Plenty of USB and potentially a good board.
Cons: Not sure yet... cannot get past the initial post screen.
Summary: If you're looking for a gaming rig, this Mobo isn't even worth the money it's sold for, Rev 1.3 has a lot of issues across the entire board. The CBP is Blue which is neat, but I really don't care for what the hell a motherboard looks like, it needs to work above all else, which is can for short...
Pros: It works... sometimes.
Cons: The integrated ATI Radeon HD 3000 on Rev 1.3 constantly crashes, causing the computer to try and BSoD, but instead of blue screening the entire motherboard will just shut off and restart. Before installing this motherboard my Computer could be on for months, and not once did it ever shut off or r...
Summary: If you plan on using this for HDMI sound, find another board.
Pros: Pretty good low cost board
Cons: HDMI routinely fails to re-initialize sound after the computer wakes up from standby. It is connected to a television, so every time I want to watch a show etc I have to reboot the computer to get the sound working. It's a terrible bug for any HDMI system, even worse on a media PC. I have spent m...
Summary: I got it with the AMD Athlon III BX440 combo deal. It brought my total HTPC build price to $240 incl 1TB WD Green & 750GB WD Black. Can't ask for more. Other build details : 1. Rosewill Wind Knight Case with 2 x 120 mm, 1 x 140 mm Fan & 1 x 80mm Fan 2. OCZ 600W Pro PSU 3.
Pros: Breeze to install. Onboard sound and video are good enough for HTPC usage. Lots of USB with On/off charging for portable devices. HDMI/DVI output is the highlight of this board. Unlocked my AMD Athlon III BX440 to Phenom BX 4 core. Yay !!
Cons: The onboard ATI videochip is a PITA with Win7 x64 esp with HDMI output. I spent 6-7 hours trying to get it to output sound. Later, I found it is a well known issue with ATI video chips. Luckily picked up a Ge210 FAR to get rid of this hassle. Just keep this in mind if you use HDMI to transmit aud...
Summary: I build a lot of computers for customers/friends and sometimes buy before needed when I see a deal. This unit sat on my shelf for 3 months before a build needed it and I installed it. Dead unit.
Pros: Good price and features.
Cons: Was DOA out of the box. RMA'd it and the sent same dead unit back with no explanation.
