Died after 7 years
ELLIOT H., Newegg
25 October 2014
Summary: I guess after 7 years of faithful service, it's about time to upgrade anyway. 7 years is ancient in Moore's world.
Pros: It worked well while it lasted.
Cons: Died after almost 7 years. But this might have not been because of the board, but because of static electricity. I guess I'll never know why it stopped working, but I'm guessing the latter since it was working before I moved houses, and didn't work after I moved. Something must have gone wrong in...
Pros: Great Board, Very soild did everything basic
Cons: When you have a 10"+ video card you cannot access most of the sata connectors this means you are limited two to sata components. If you are lucky enough to have a right angle sata connector cable you will be able to use 3 of them, however since these connectors all face eachother the right angles...
Summary: Replaced through Newegg, going to test it soon and review the replacement. If the new one exhibits similar problems, I won't be happy. I'm being optimistic and think I just got unlucky with this one board considering the positive experiences most people had.
Pros: Specs as advertised, core unlocker, overclock capabilities.
Cons: From the beginning, it booted fine. One day it would not boot beyond the "Detecting IDE Drives" screen with any device plugged into SATA ports 0-3. Removing said devices would boot the computer (SSD was on SATA port 4). Contacted Gigabyte support and went through their troubleshooting process, sh...
Summary: Board was purchased as a hold-over after my am2 board died... Hopefully the ultra-Low profile Left-angle SATA cables I ordered will give me enough clearance to install my GPU, otherwise this board is useless for anything but low end users. Dear Gigabyte- WTH? Low end Graphics only?
Pros: Besides some serious layout flaws (read on) it's a great little board, I've always had good experiences w/ Gigabyte
Cons: If you have a video card over 6 or 7 inches, it'll cover all 5 SATA ports. also the pattern they've been mounted on the board makes it impossible to use more than two ports with regular 90degree SATA cables, because they all bend into each other.
Pros: No pros to mention since I didn't get to use it.
Cons: A friend convinced me to build my pc but left me hanging at the crucial ordering stage so I did the best I could based on reviews. This motherboard has alot of great reviews so I got. The three eggs is because I don't know how I could have known ahead of time that my Radeon HD6870 would cover and...
Summary: Easily unlock 3rd and 4th cores (and L3 cache) on certain AMD processors (AD5000OGJ22GI). Optical out snap crackles and pops. This is with 3 different motherboards and under XP and Vista, and all kinds of drivers. Haven't tried the HDMI audio out yet.
Summary: My first board came with a dead memory channel, which means I was only able to use 2 of the 4 memory slots. Contacted Amazon, they sent me a replacement w/o waiting for the original one with 2 day shipping. Great service. Unfortunately second one arrived with same issue.
