Still Not Sure?

Capital O., Newegg
19 March 2010
  • Summary: Definately not giving up on it yet, I just was expecting it to kick but* out of the box ...Don't have time to keep working on it. Will update post as I finish setup...
  • Pros: Cost, Newegg, It's a Gigabyte. Upgradable to a newer CPU. If you dont have a video card, it has good onboard graphics. 6 SATA ports.
  • Cons: I have always had great luck with Gigabyte boards and never even hesitated to buy this one to replace an aging DFI mobo that I have always hated. I am using an AMD Quad 9850 Black Edition CPU and 8GB of Corsair XMS DDR2 800 memory. Vista 64 and a totally new WD 1.5 hard drive so it's a completly ...

Sweet and Sour

Laron H., Newegg
8 March 2010
  • Summary: Maybe its just my luck and this one just have a bad chipset. So, my next Gigabyte MB will of to have 2 PS/2 ports not like this with one Dead Port
  • Pros: This is wonderful MB work right out of the box More or less!!
  • Cons: The BIOS is a nightmare my PS/2 ports don't work and using my USB port in the BIOS it freezes up every time, because of that I have not been able to make any adjustment at all. They came out with a new BIOS update F5b but still I'm unable to Use my Microsoft keyboard USB or my Gigabyte keyboard U...

It's OK

Anonymous, Newegg
27 February 2010
  • Summary: I bought this board so I coould put together a computer and also use it to watch movies on a 37" toshiba. After building it the sound onboard really impressed me. The Gigabyte instructions and customer support, not so much.
  • Pros: Great price. Most connections in manual are straightfoward.
  • Cons: board support for accessory spdif is just lip service. Doesn't appear that proper GUI/drivers can handle Optical IN . If anybody has made this happen please let me know

A Step Backwards...?

Mark M., Newegg
13 February 2010
  • Summary: First, I love most GIGA MoBos. Needed a DDR2 model quick, and this was it. Feels like a drunk late Saturday night design. Got it working, but with more pain than any prior GIGA board. My Fav AMD board, the GA-MA790X-UD4P, appears retired. I hope not... It was IDEAL. This is a poor replacement.
  • Pros: DUAL PCI-E slots (one hobbled) 3 imbedded Video connection options Gigabyte component quality Feature rich rear external connectivity
  • Cons: Location of 2nd PCI-E hampered access to 1/3 of on board SATA headers, and on board USB headers are just under the same card - Terrible Design. Location of case front panel headers also in new, horrid location. Once board mounted, near torture to connect case wiring. DIMM slots 1 & 2 dangerously ...

Great Board -- Bad LAN

Richard S., Newegg
17 January 2010
  • Summary: I will think twice before buying from Gigabyte now.
  • Pros: Love the board. But I hate that the LAN chips went down after about 6 wks. of usage. Gigabyte is touting this board as being made with higher quality components, which is one of the reasons I bought it. Nevertheless, the LAN is obviously sub-standard. I've had no thunderstorms, there's been no po...
  • Cons: Less than optimum chip quality.
