There's a "short" below me

Anonymous, Newegg
22 December 2006
  • Summary: Let's see...I'll use 3 sticks of memory on a DUAL CHANNEL motherboard....what could be the problem???? (do they even have to match?) I'll complain about mounting an AFTERMARKET cooler and blame the mobo.
  • Pros: Cheap cost.
  • Cons: F00Ls who think they know what they are doing end up buying this.

Stable but no as fast as I hoped

Nicholas M., Newegg
4 December 2006
  • Summary: Well this board seems stable enough. The bois seems to be in "Engrish". Just take note about the backplate bracket. Enthusiasts stay clear there are many other boards on the crowded mobo market. this one looks good but then just "bytes"
  • Pros: Ok this is a pretty good motherboard. The layout is nice it has 4 slots for ram. It uses single PCI express and it is cheap. It has decent features and chipset cooling and is a pretty blue. I got this on black friday deal.
  • Cons: Ok where do I start. If you have a thermalright heasink you have to order the K8 MOUNTING BRACKET!!!. I repeat this uses pushpin style mounting brackets unless you have an old one lying around from another mobo. It has slow fsb it seems and there might be a few things holding this one back. I fee...

slow FSB

Ricardo D., Newegg
27 November 2006
  • Pros: Fire wire, dual channel DDR
  • Cons: Haven't received this board yet, but bought it while at work because it was on sale and didn't really look at the specs close enough. Just realized that it only has an 800mhz FSB, even went to their website to verify. Why would gigabyte sell this outdated board?

  • Cons: The heat sink and cpu fan were kinda hard to install, but other than that it's good.

A reliable mid-level user board.

Brian D., Newegg
8 November 2006
  • Summary: This MB is not designed for the high-level enthusiast who wants huge overclocks and SLI'd video cards - rather, it's a solid solution for the mid-level user who wants in on Athlon 64/X2 performance without spending a bucketload on features he won't use.
  • Pros: This board has a lot of excellent features, especially the abundance of backpanel and pin-out USB ports. It's fairly easy to set up and has been solid and reliable since I purchased it last year. Does well with a slight overclock (upped FSB from 200 to 215), and the OCing BIOS menu (accessed by h...
  • Cons: The included driver CD caused continuous BSODs upon boot until I replaced them with the default nVidia NF4 drivers from Gigabyte's website - get these onto a disc before installing just in case. I got the earlier version with a rinky-dink NB fan, which I ended up replacing with one of Zalman's fa...

Not too shabby

Chris M., Newegg
6 November 2006
  • Pros: Compatibility with operating systems is pretty reasonable. Bought this to replace an a8n-sli deluxe that crapped out on me, and it is an okay replacement. I appreciate the gigabit lan and dual channel ram. It has just enough connectors for all of my hardware, not extras though.
  • Cons: single pci-x which blocks off one of the pci slots when filled.
