Nice Board if its wasn't defective

Anonymous, Newegg
16 March 2012
  • Summary: The early Intel HD Graphics drivers were acting buggy and win7 Action Center insisted on updating them at least a couple times I think. So now I need to find some version that is stable and I can force to work with the HDTV.
  • Pros: Nice full featured board that is reasonably future proof for its series. Had my mother order it for a basic machine since it should likely be compatible with any future hardware or devices for the next ten years and since it has quality components and sleeps most of the time I expect it to last t...
  • Cons: Preparing to RMA due to recent hardware error. The alarm started blaring for no discernible reason while the machine was idle. This led me to find fairly frequent hardware restarts in the logs. The errors apparently were not noticeable to the users since the machine sleeps mostly. I also observed...

30 days later...

Dale P., Newegg
18 January 2011
  • Summary: In reading some other reviews it sounds like I should have gone into the BIOS before installing the Win 7 OS to choose the ACHI setting (instead of the IDE)...don't know if or how much that may have racheted down the Mushkin Callisto SSD's performance, but I'm very happy with the 234/239 Mbps on...
  • Pros: After >30 days of continuous use this board is still working perfectly (prior review 12/18/10). With the build described on 12/18/10, the current >30days-of-use (100% stock settings, nothing OC'd) overall WEI is 6.6 (constraint being the ASUS GDU at 6.6 & 6.6), with the Intel i5-760 and Mushkin H...
  • Cons: None so far.

A great board with a few annoying behaviors (surely not unlike some people you know)

Dale P., Newegg
18 December 2010
  • Summary: The build... Case: LIAN LI PC-A03-B (with 120mm blowhole cut in top panel & MNPCTech Billet 120mm Fan Grill & added SILVERSTONE FM121-B 120mm Case Fan) Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-H57M-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel H57 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard CPU: Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W...
  • Pros: Used this Gigabyte micro ATX 1156 H57 to build a mini-tower PC to run the OS and programs locally and pulling files off of a home server (built also using a Gigabyte motherboard). Built the PC to have a machine that had enough current and new technology that it would last several years and could ...
  • Cons: - At first boot I got a screen asking if I want to change from IDE to ACHI mode Y/N...well, I thought, sure, why not, and picked Y...bad idea. PC proceeded to BSOD and wouldn't boot up Win7. My PC-builder neighbor helped me figure out how to undo what I did...which was start up and go into the BI...

Not compatible with XP sp 2

Cameron L., Newegg
21 October 2010
  • Pros: The included sw has a system optimization program that works well.
  • Cons: You need at least XP sp 3 to install on the system. If you try to install XP sp 2 and then apply sp 3 you get device errors which prevent the system from booting. There is some discussion on how to add the correct drivers to XP sp 2 on the internet but that is a pain. Better to just find a copy o...

Great product -- easy to install and use

D. Rigsbee, Amazon
11 October 2010
  • Summary: This motherboard works great and is easy to install. I paired this with an Intel i3-540 CPU. Windows XP runs great on this board. Just be sure to understand this is a micro-ATX board but should work in regular ATX cases (it did in mine).

No Graphics with I7 Processor

Anonymous, Newegg
18 June 2010
  • Pros: Have had good luck with Gigabyte boards this one is no exception.
  • Cons: The graphics capability for these new H57, H55, Q57 boards is built into the processor. There is no chipset on the board. Unfortunately the documentation provided on these retail websites does not clearly state this. The I7 processors right now do not have built in graphics only the I5 600 series...

I7 = No onboard graphics, period

Daniel W., Newegg
14 May 2010
  • Summary: I will just pick up a cheap graphics card. I will still buy gigabyte because they have always been rock solid and run forever. (I have some 5 year old ones still running) I just wanted to clue others in so they won't be dissappointed: I7 = Graphics card only
  • Pros: I have built about 50+ gigabyte motherboard based computers. It is my favorite brand. This was a computer for a tech to use at work in a back lab. I got this MOBO for the tons of features, raid 1, 10/100/1000, built in graphics, etc. But...
  • Cons: This was the first time I got a "not so perfect" motherboard from Gigabyte. Gigabyte lists my uP as compatible (BX80605i7860). This means it works in the board. They did not state that the on-board grapics will only work with I3 and I5 chips, I7's do not work with the onboard graphics. The descri...

for htpc

Dun Y., Newegg
11 March 2010
  • Summary: purchased this for an micro htpc/server build. at the time, it was only a couple bucks more than the h55 version. so why not, better resale value. plus it has 7 sata ports for my movie harddrives.
  • Pros: cheap h57 board 7 sata ports usb 3.0
  • Cons: only has fan connectors for cpu and exhaust fan. no onboard fan pin for intake fan no sata 6gbs will not boot to windows in ahci mode, i think theres a fix to this, but i don't need it so i didn't bother.

Good board, rude support

Neil W., Newegg
16 February 2010
  • Summary: This is the first Gigabyte board I've bought for personal use, and from the response I got from their support will very likely be my last. The board does everything I want it to besides run the memory at the advertised speed.
  • Pros: Using onboard HDMI with IGP CPU gets you quality HD video, HD audio bitstreaming Runs cool, pretty low power for all-in-one solution Pair of PCI, plus PCIe; other H57 boards seem to favor 1 or less PCI Audio switching between formats on HDMI is flawless
  • Cons: Board refuses to run DDR3-1600 higher than DDR3-1333. BIOS does not have option, and when adjusting manually via EasyTune it immediately reverts to 1066 after setting to 1600, and rebooting yields 1066 speeds. Gigabyte specs claim speeds up to 1666 when using IGP CPU; I messaged their support, an...
