An otherwise good board plagued by RAM issues

Chance S., Newegg
13 January 2013
  • Pros: Pretty much everything, but the RAM issues outweigh the pros.
  • Cons: I've had the same issue that other reviewers have mentioned - this board won't POST if your RAM is clocked past 1600MHz. Although the board claims to support RAM at 1866MHz, it doesn't in my experience. I've used the same RAM + CPU in another system with a different motherboard and they run just ...

Works for DDR3 1333 but not for 1600MHz or above.

Scott N., Newegg
2 January 2013
  • Summary: Memtest86+ does not yet support the UEFI bios. Max DDR3 speed the AMD FM2 processors can handle is 1866MHz, according to the AMD product specification website. www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/apu/mainstream/pages/mainstream.aspx#7 Gigabyte GTS assistance request #'s: 1305931, 1308537, and 1310133.
  • Pros: A good company typically providing quality products. The bios successfully posted at DDR3 memory 1333MHz.
  • Cons: The bios did not successfully post at DDR3 memory 1600MHz or above. I tested with two separate sets of 1600MHz memory that work fine in two other FM2 motherboards and even purchased a second AMD A8 FM2 processor to determine the problem was not a failing memory controller on the cpu. Both sets of...

A word to the wise, do NOT buy this board

Andrew M., Newegg
20 December 2012
  • Summary: I bought this as a combo with this processor: AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo). I usually have really good luck with Gigabyte but this is an epic fail..
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Won't post/no video at all. I have tried VGA, DVI and HDMI. The CPU fan spins up and that's it. The 24-pin connector and the 8-pin connector are securely in the board as well as the memory is seated properly. I have a 380-watt PS, which should be plenty for this board and processor. Wouldn't even...

Biggest piece of Junk ever

Kenneth H., Newegg
12 December 2012
  • Summary: Others have claimed a bios flash fixes this but this MB came with the latest F3 bios. When I tried to reflash said bios I got a single message that file size was incorrect, even though I downloaded right from Gigabyte website. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
  • Pros: Was well packaged
  • Cons: Video first time I booted, wouldn't boot to Win 7 disk. Restart and no video. Put in a PCI-e video card, got video again. Tried to go into boot menu and screen went blank. No video after that... nothing I can do brings up video.

PAPERWEIGHT

Lucious J., Newegg
23 November 2012
  • Summary: Have many Gigabyte boards aver the past 10 years and this is one bad apple that has spoiled the bunch. Might get another or wait til the F2A75M-HD2 arrives. Want this for a HTPC. Don't want to rma to manufacturer so they.ll find blame. Have built 22+ computers from scratch and it's the board.
  • Pros: SATA 6gb supports A-10 apu. FM2 works great. USB 3.0 and all you need for a great HTPC
  • Cons: Lasted about 1.5 months then no audio. No audio on front panel or rear panel. Would not let a sound card work either. Reinstalled W7 and all drivers and still no sound out the rear panel. Tried onboard front panel and still no audio. Sound manager says no audio device plugged in. Board worked fin...
