Best Buy for LGA 1150 mATX MB

bigbird, Amazon
  • Summary: I currently have three of these GA-B85-D3h units functioning. They are all great examples of Gigabytes expertise. I'm not a gamer, but this board serves my home and business needs extremely well. An SSD for boot with a WD 1T for storage, backed by 8 GB of matched 1600, and either a Core Pentium, i3, or i5 produces a great personal machine. The match with a Rosewill Line-m mATX minitower case and a Corsair CX430M PSU produces as great performer. 2GB NVIDIA GPU optional.

Build a Xeon Workstation

Richard M., Newegg
14 March 2015
  • Summary: Great entry level workstation board. Has two PCI slots for pro audio cards. Supports the Intel Haswell refresh E3 Xeon CPU and has a socket for the Trusted Platform Module. Although four RAM slots are available, there is no support for ECC memory. The color scheme is neutral black and gray, perfect for a business machine. Construction is top notch with solid caps and shielded chokes.
  • Pros: High quality construction Low cost of ownership Small size Good looks Supports Intel E3 Xeon
  • Cons: Limited clearance around CPU socket No Thunderbolt port No mini display port No ECC RAM support

Used for gaming, had for 8+ months. Works great.

  • Summary: Works great for me, I see a couple people saying DOA and I feel for them, however this motherboard works great for me. I'm using it in a gaming rig (after my old one died) and used this mobo to build a new PC from the ground up (minus my old GPU and HDD). With a good CPU, GPU and RAM this thing runs like a beast and will tackle any game out there on the market. I would highly recommend this for building any entry to mid level PC, and again it works great for gaming.

Great general use mobo

Terrence M., Newegg
20 January 2015
  • Summary: This is a nice board for a basic build. This is NOT a power gaming motherboard so don't expect it to be one. It looks great and features the ultra-durable features you expect from Gigabyte. I got this for a new office rig for running image processing etc. I expect this motherboard to be in operation for at least 5 years.
  • Pros: m-ATX with lots of functionality. Front USB3.0 header, 4 RAM slots, great controller set. Does not include a lot of unnecessary cables etc. Really attractive black color. Design includes the ultra-durable features we've come to expect from Gigabyte's UD series.
  • Cons: cheap I/O shield
