Summary: I purchased this board after viewing the specs and find it surpassed most other 990fx boards. Ive been a tried and true MSI user for the past 7 years and thought I would try something new. Well I received my first board got it installed. What do you know, no bios on the board. So I go through the Newegg RMA process and get a new board shipped. Get it installed and a second time no bios. Two boards in a row no bios. No POST, no errors just no bios at all.
It's a good motherboard, but I'm having problems with it.
10 February 2015
Summary: Its a solid motherboard. It runs great. The only problem I have is, my cpu is rated at 4.7 - 5.0 gh but it's running at 4.0 gh. I read that you have to update the mobo drivers to get it to run at 4.7 gh, but the drivers are up to date. I tryed overclocking and the computer had to do an emergency shut down when it hit 4.7 gh. If it wasn't for that problem it would be an excellent mother board.
Summary: Since Gigabytes motherboards seem to fail in the same fashion I will NEVER by a gigabyte motherboard again or recommend it to my customers who want stability. I will pay more for quality. The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one is because it did work for more than a year w/o issue.
Pros: Amazing capacity. Supported my Phenom II x6 perfectly and even upgraded Nvidia GTX 770.
Cons: FAILS LIKE EVERY OTHER GIGABYTE BOARD IVE OWNED!!! I used the board for about 2 years. ONe day it rebooted and went into a repetative loop where it would not get out of POST. Finally after about an hour of trying to activate the Dual-BIOS feature (WHICH ALSO FAILED) the board shorted itself and died.

Summary: Ended up sending it back for a trade in second board the issue is not the board but Etron 3.0 USB drivers, if you are running wnidows 7 64 bit there not asinged drivers so windows 7 64 bit will not let you run them or install them. they install but you will get error that there no singed drivers and that windows does not recognize them I tried it with a 32 bit version and it works fine but not with 64 bit - I have been in contact with gigabyte its a known issue but issue...
Summary: Audio did not work... Had to buy a new audio card to get sound. Neither Front panel USB-III works...although back panel sockets worked. Had to buy a 4-Port Hub to have front panel USB-III All in all, I was pretty disappointed about this purchase... I should get some refund for these issues.
Summary: After having problems with a different motherboard, I thought that this might be the solution as it has many of the same features. Unfortunately it did not recognize more than one of my GTX460 video cards so could not run SLI. Often it would not even POST. Board was returned for a refund.
Summary: The short story is that there just isn't really anything about this board that is better than some other particular choices out right now, and I've have bad results throughout this line of boards (although I haven't tried the ud3).
Pros: A visually appealing board.
Cons: I actually owned the ud7 for much longer than this ud5, but it died on me, and now I've found that my second Gigabyte board in a row is less than satisfactory, because although this one is still working, it emits horrific noise in the audio (i've tried multiple audio devices, plugged both into the back and through the front-end audio, and with various driver/bios updates). The noise clearly reacts to the various activities that I perform (i.e. a mouse movement causes ...
Summary: I WISH GIGABYTE WOULD JUST GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. I HAVE PUT SO MUCH TIME IN MESSING WITH THIS BOARD ITS CRAZY! GIGABYTE YOU GOT ME GOOD ON THIS ONE BUT NEVER AGAIN!
Cons: MEMORY DIMS ALL WORK JUST NOT AT THE SAME TIME....THIS WILL BE MY THIRD BOARD IN A YEAR. THIS IS A PROBLEM BOARD READ SOME FORUMS BEFORE YOU BUY THIS BOARD AND SEE FOR YOUR SELF THIS BOARD IS GARBAGE!
Summary: THIS IS A GARBAGE BOARD! READ SOME FORUMS ABOUT THIS BOARD AND YOU WILL SEE THAT IS A PROBLEM BOARD AND JUST A BAD DESIGN ....STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOARD OR YOU WILL BE SORRY......
Pros: Works good if you only want to use 2 dims for your ram.....
Cons: can not run 2 gfx cards with out the top one over heating. This is not a 2 card board. Memory problems out the YOU KNOW WHAT. All dims work but just not at the same time. Customer service is horable as usual and no help at all really. I guess I am "S OUT OF LUCK" RAM HEAR WE COME! THIS WILL BE MY THIRD BOARD IN A YEARS TIME.........THE HELL WITH GIGABYTE! GO ASUS!
Summary: There is not much to write about a product that is DOA. It had exposed copper on the circuit board which is a major manufacturer defect, how this passed their QA process is beyond me. Want a better product go Sabertooth TUFF!
