Ok so this is an update.

Matt J., Newegg
18 March 2015
  • Summary: So I really wanted this board to work.... i really did. I have put three sets of ddr3 1600 memory into this thing. All three have worked out fine for 20 minutes or so and then have either caused restarts or freezing.
  • Pros: I wish it would work properly
  • Cons: Doesn't like memory running in dual channel so much it fried 3 brand new ram chips.... Got an error saying that the bios was corrupted. had to call newegg. asked for an immediate rma.

MOBO

Alan R., Newegg
15 February 2015
  • Pros: It arrived fast
  • Cons: It has worked since it has arrived. At this point I'm trying to get it to work, but I'm doubting that. Having to do the bios update was also a hassle in which I'm not getting through because it seems that the mobo is faulty.

More BIOS and USB issues

David B., Newegg
14 February 2015
  • Pros: Great chipset, great expandability, very feature rich, looks nice in my machine.
  • Cons: Reliability. Thrice now the BIOS has corrupted when switching between windows and linux. It is able to recover itself but this causes GRUB to boot directly to rescue mode (presumably because GRUB no longer knows where things in the BIOS are). If you've never had the pleasure of recovering a broke...

Worst Customer Service

Joseph T., Newegg
12 February 2015
  • Summary: Invest more in your customer support. Corsair has you guys beat by a long shot.
  • Pros: The motherboard has been fantastic thus far. Gigabyte could improve their software drastically. It is definitely not as good as Asus. However for the motherboard itself it has not given me any issues except for some configuration. Overall though I do recommend their board. It supports a lot and c...
  • Cons: So I purchased this motherboard because it was on sale, and had a mail in rebate. Well I postmarked the rebate on time. Thereafter I resubmitted the required paperwork to complete the rebate. 2 weeks later, I received an email stating that they have not received my paperwork and to resubmit and m...

Was so excited....

Ryan K., Newegg
2 February 2015
  • Pros: Beautiful Board, great value for the specs/price
  • Cons: Board will not boot to bios. All I get is a black screen with cursor, I've found similar issue with other people online. Nobody has found a fix. I've put in for RMA as Gigabyte customer service has just been asking me to do basic things I've already done and told them about. Now Newegg is out of ...

Great, while it lasted.

Joshua M., Newegg
9 January 2015
  • Pros: It worked great when it worked, easy bios, easy to OC, tools are nice. Nice speeds and cheap for 6300 amd. Gave it 2 eggs because it worked nice when actually working.
  • Cons: I was hesitant to purchase because of the reviews where they stated it dies after a bit, but i went ahead anyway. Died after almost exactly one month. I didnt overclock at all, temps were all great, so not sure why it died. I have submitted RMA so lets see what happens.

Works OK when it was working

Tin N., Newegg
6 January 2015
  • Pros: Easy Installation a lot of features
  • Cons: Got it in august 2014. Now the motherboard won't recognize any peripheral devices, especially the keyboard to wake up(boot past BIOS screen) and to access BIOS. Tried every possible fix even clearing cmos

Check the revision (if you can)

Chris H., Newegg
4 January 2015
  • Summary: I won't be buying any more GIGABYTE. Any company that would abuse customers like they did with their deceitful memory stats and absurd "revisions" of the same model doesn't deserve customers. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice...
  • Pros: Lots of ports and slots. Could use a little more USB3 but it has enough for my case.
  • Cons: Says it handles 1866MHz RAM, and says it handles 32GB of RAM. Well, it won't handle them at the same time. Handles 16GB at 1866, but 32GB only if underclocked to 1600. Crashes immediately on bootup with any 32GB @ 1866 timings. No UEFI! This is a revision 1.0 board. The later revisions may have U...

Wow at first...

Ronald C., Newegg
2 January 2015
  • Summary: Was a great buy when purchased. Now, I am beginning to doubt that.
  • Pros: This is my second build. Just like the first one, everything went smoothly and this build worked fine for the first month.
  • Cons: The board will not wake from sleep mode. Have to totally kill power to start it. Very disappointed,

You get what you pay for

Eddie R., Newegg
23 December 2014
  • Summary: Just a small point to note... only 6 SATA ports on the board... so go with the UD5 or UD7 if you need more.
  • Pros: Slick - looks great for the price. Not a bad buy for the 990FX chipset & fairly decent motherboard all-round. BIOS tools are attractive and practical. Getting over 1TByte/s with my 4x SSD's in RAID0 (sequential write) Over 600MB/s with a 512k file size Tested with the FX-8350... works like a champ!
  • Cons: It takes quite a bit of tweaking to get this board to work effectively with the Phenom II X6 CPU (I'm not sure about compatibility with the rest of the series) - it will not give you great performance out of the box. The Gigabyte EasyTune tools also suck - if you're going to use it, it's a therma...
