Excerpt: Some really like the colors that GIGABYTE typically uses, some don’t. Personally, colors always take a back seat to the performance I like and the features I need. The GIGABYTE 890FXA-UD5 is packed with features that will meet most users’ needs. With over twenty years of manufacturing experience, GIGABYTE has built a reputation for bringing quality products to the table. With a bit of luck the GIGABYTE 890FXA-UD5 will be no different.
Conclusion: The GIGABYTE 890FXA-UD5 motherboard is an interesting board in several respects. CPU Unlock allows the locked CPU cores of an x3 CPU to be unlocked (Note, not all locked CPUs can unlock). The ability to charge my iPhone whether the computer is on or off or on standby mode is a great feature. The ability to use USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/second devices are also great features.
Summary: On-board power, reset and clear CMOS buttons are always a great option to have especially when you are in a benching session. And like most of the high-end motherboards out there the UD5 does have them. But the placement of the power and reset buttons are located behind the ATX power connect which I feel is a much unusual. Removing the IDE connector and replacing it with the buttons would have resulted in a better layout.
