Conclusion: I have to imagine that building a board like the G1.Sniper 5 is a lot of fun for a product team. The limits? limits? Instead of having to start from the top and whittle the feature-set down in order to fit a specific price-point, the G1.Sniper 5 instead includes extras on top of it all. Simply put, this board is .
Summary: excellent motherboard, great value, love it, just does not support all ram modules Gigabyte though needs to have their bios updating software runnable with 64 bit OS's they use a 16 bit app to update the bios and if you are running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, you cant upgrade the bios unless you are a programmer, or try it some other way.
Pros: Lot's of high end components like Sound Blaster sound, Killer LAN, 10 SATA III ports, LED lighting, add-on WIFI and Bluetooth, quality heatsinks and Gigabyte quality construction. Comes with an external USB 3.0 adapter for older cases.
Cons: BIOS issues finding components, Marvell 88SE9230 integration, benchmarks slower than other boards, high end price.
Pros: z87 with dual x16 pci-e lanes! onboard sound rocks, if set up properly. Wifi works great. dual bios is a plus. This board is seriously decked out. I waited for weeks for the asus maximus vi formula, as all my builds have used asus mobos. Couldnt wait any longer so I jumped on the sniper 5. Bios is very robust and can be intimidating at first. I personally love the led path on the board.
Cons: The onboard audio gave me some issues. TURN DOWN the volume! I game with headphones and had a pair of x41s by turtle beach. The only way to utilize opamp sound is to plug into a single 3.5mm jack on the board. Now the x41s r wireless with optical and rca inputs. See my dilemma, I hooked up with optical to find it bypasses the awesome features i paid for. tried a 3.5mm to rca adapter, worked but the sound was awful. distorted and farty bass. Turned down the volume in s...
Pros: Its refreshing to see a motherboard with so many features that this one has. Lots of room for expansion with the 4 pci e slots. The audio is amazing for an on-board audio, saves me having to buy a dedicated sound card.
Cons: Bigfoot killer network driver causes windows to blue screen occasionally so using the Intel network port now. Also the UEFI BIOS can be a little laggy in regards to its FPS at times
