First EVGA board ever owned; very happy!

  • Summary: Excellent board. Very happy so far! I have never owned an EVGA motherboard before (I used to go with Gigabyte or Asus). I was pleasantly surprised at the workmanship of the board. I am still trying to figure out the overclocking settings with my Core i7 970 cpu, but that will come over time.

  • Summary: Quick note for people. The Jmicron SATA drivers on this board DO NOT like Raid 0. If you use the JM ports and a raid 0 you will get blue screen repeatably untill eventually the board will die. If you are going to use a raid 0 make sure to use the microsoft SATA ports. This is not fixed with bios updates. I've tried to get the jmicron ports to work with a raid 0 for the past year or so and they just won't (I've had the board since i7 release).

  • Summary: This is the 9th or 10th motherboard I've had since I started building my own pcs. By far and away, this is the best motherboard I've ever owned. It's rock solid stable, reliable, and overclocks like crazy if you're into that. Bios updates are very frequent, and customer support of EVGA is superb.

EVGA X58 SLI Motherboard

  • Summary: PROs: - Solid board. Very heavy compared to most other mobo's I've worked with (heavy being a good thing, due to the heatsink material, which you want in a mobo that will be running an i7) Easy install Easy setup. I ordered one for a client and it operates fine. It was built for a business environment, so it is built as a desktop PC, NOT a gaming rig. -cables - EVGA includes like 5 or 6 Sata cables, about 4 molex-to-sata adapters.

  • Conclusion: It goes without saying that power efficiency is at the forefront of many consumers’ minds today, and for good reason. Whether you are trying to save money or the environment – or both – it’s good to know just how much effort certain vendors are putting into their products to help them excel in this area. ASUS and Gigabyte are two that immediately come to mind that have put a into this, and I’m sure with their leadership, power consumption will consistently get better.
  • Pros: Price at around ~$270., Great performance and aesthetics., Northbridge and PWM heatsinks look good and perform well., Feature-rich – many included accessories., Supports both two and three-way SLI and CrossFireX.
  • Cons: Fan connector location not too lenient., Overclocking proved to be a chore, and not too impressive.
