Summary: I like eVGA for their video cards, but when it comes to motherboards, this one will be my last. I've been burned by their motherboards too many times now. Over the last 6 or so years I've had several of their boards fail just after the warranty expires, or fail almost right away after getting them.
Pros: Strong feature set for the money. Clean no-frill look. Good customer/tech support. Lots of extras & accessories included. Decent overclocking capabilities. USB 3.0 and SATA-III (not all X58 boards have both of these).
Cons: Marvell SATA-III controller slow to boot (adds several seconds to boot time unless you disable it). eVGA basically stopped releasing drivers & BIOS updates very quickly. First board died in 3 months, second board died a few months out of warranty.
Summary: My first EVGA motherboard purchase. I'm glad i did. Rocking an I7 with 6 gigs of ram and a 5870 and a Mushkin SSD with 2-1 terabyte storage drives and everything is great. EVGA is my new go-to for motherboards.
Pros: Dependable so far. All the features i wanted. Cool looking, well built board.
Summary: Even after the above con, I still give 4 eggs cause of how well it performs. Plus the software that comes with is nice and can overclock with ease. The other reason is that there's a chance the case is the culprit in being out of alignment.
Pros: Good layout and design. RAM slots very snappy, makes for comfortable install. CPU slot had me worried at first but ends up being just fine.
Cons: I don't believe it matches the ATX case specs correctly. About half the screw holes don't match up at all and have to go without. Also, the PCI slots didn't line up with the case slots either, my GPU was hitting the seperators. Had to remove the mobo, install the GPU and pick new screw holes that...
Summary: Using the second nic for a dedicated pipe to sister machine for sharing Photoshop files. This keeps traffic off the router. USB 3 CF card reader is so fast its scary. No more waiting on files to download. Overall a good solid mobo.
Pros: These boards are great. This is my third build using this board. All work as advertised. Bought this board mainly for the two nics and USB 3 support. Southern Cal tech support is 24/7 and English is NOT their second language.
Cons: None so far. This one is about 5 months old and going strong. Got 2 others running 6 and 7 months with no problems.
Pros: This board came with the perfect assortment of features for the machine I was building. I bought one for work and one for home and with the exception of losing years of data as detailed below, the board is actually rock solid.
Cons: Just like another user here, my board's internal SATA 3 drive controller (assumed) also destroyed my hard drives. Three of them in fact. Two SSD (OCZ Petrols) and one 500GB Western Digital SATA. To be honest, this is the only complaint but it is a utterly and completely unacceptable one. Thank go...
Summary: Hearing a type of buzzing sound from my general CPU area that I don't recall in my previous motherboard. I doubt it is motherboard-related, probably just something weird with the heatsink ;0.
Pros: Very clean-looking motherboard. Layout fit almost everything perfectly. Only issue was I couldn't connect a back chassis fan to the designated chassis fan slot. Whether short fan cord or just distanced, not a problem. All ports currently seem to work just fine. Love the error code indicator and p...
Cons: I had issues with the order I plugged in my SATA devices although I use a PCIe Solid State Drive. Had a lot of errors but cannot be sure it was motherboard related as I was also having CPU heatsink issues. The motherboard box was basically demolished when I received it. Corners dented and ripped ...
