  • Summary: EPoX 5EPA+ likes its brother, 5EGA+ bridges the old and new as it uses the conventional DDR400. As we have mentioned before, the gains of DDR2 versus DDR is not substantial enough for us to switch totally to DDR2. Features-wise, the EPoX 5EPA+ is probably the only board we come across that features not only SATA RAID but IDE RAID as well.
  • Pros: Gigabit ethernet, Many overclocking options, IDE RAID
  • Cons: Performance could be better, No 1394

Intel 915P Shootout : EPoX EP-5EPA+

Hardware Zone
13 March 2006
  • Conclusion: The omission of several key features in a high-end motherboard is disheartening. In what is seemingly an effort to keep prices competitive, EPoX has left their top range EP-5EPA+ partially crippled. We felt that EPoX channeled too much effort into packaging and presentation, rather than working on the flaws of the motherboard itself. Though we welcome the Power Pack bundle, the board could have been spruced up better.
