Summary: You don't want a lot of extras on a 24/7 machine to suck up juice.
Pros: It is a basic micro board with some over clocking ability. I have been running it as a HTPC and telephone system for 24/7 during the last two years. Very reliable, solid performer with a Be2400 45 watt cpu and 2 gigs of ram.
Summary: I do some light gaming, digital art and 3D work on this. Granted, the 3D work is near impossible on my measly 1GB of ram, but that's next up to be upgraded.
Pros: Did the same as the previous reviewer and bought it as a combo with the Phenom x3, but not from here. Currently have it running Windows 7 32 bit, Ubuntu 10.10 and Arch Linux 64 bit on just a gig of ram and with a GT 240. It's a pretty big step from my previous rig, a Radeon HD3450, Sempron 3200+ ...
Cons: None really, other than the fact that it doesn't run the newest and greatest CPU's, but that's to be expected.
Summary: Purchased as a combo with a Phenom X3 8450e, CPU is on back order, so I popped an old am2+ X2 3600 cpu in for the time being. I'm impressed with the boot time of this board. Running Windows 7 64bit, didn't even need the included driver cd (but glad I have it in case I ever run an xp box or ubuntu...
Pros: Low, low price. Works as expected. Read the DOA complaint below. I have had DOA's from many of the top motherboard manufactures out there (Asus, MSI etc.) so a DOA is always a possibility.
Cons: None come to mind, I read the specs before hand so I knew what I was expecting. Got exactly that.
Good Service/Solved Issue - IDE control and boot up issue
Zhenqiu W., Newegg
19 October 2009
Summary: Kind of surpprised because the bios on the motherboard is quite new, and new bios just updates some cpu id. This really should not happen.
Pros: ECS service guys are knowlogible, and willing to help. Through a few email discussions, they suggested to update the BIOS. Updating the BIOS solved problem. I think they are doing great job. So, give them 5 eggs to be fair.
Cons: not really, though spent some time on the board.
Pros: This is for the reviewer who had issue with IDE. There are times IDE HD will have issue if your CD/DVD is also IDE. Try to boot without it and make sure you HD is the master. Make sure your IDE cable is ATA/66 instead of ATA/33.
Cons: I wish 4 IDE port was still the industry standard. I have plenty of old smaller IDE drives that I can make a software RAID out of.
Summary: Can ECS help to repair/replace this board or should I just throw away this thing?????
Pros: I already gave a review at the first week. Everything seems acceptable at that time.
Cons: The second week I had problem with the board. Right now it will boot to halfway (sometimes to windows) and then quit. I reset the cmos, it would work again for a few bootups, then have problem again. I changed power supplier, the problem is still there. Unfortunately, I have already sent out reba...
