complete garbage

Anonymous, Newegg
27 August 2012
  • Summary: Want my money back but I'm afraid that will never happen. I thought I would stick with the board and hoped for a fix. Never happened. No updates from BioStar. Just claims that I shouldn't be having these types of problems.
  • Pros: Was cheap
  • Cons: Constantly has issues starting. It is as if it forgets that it has CMOS. Most times it doesn't even post. If it does post it has some sort of critical error and can't continue.

Horribly unstable board

Douglas S., Newegg
19 July 2012
  • Pros: Price, if that is actually a pro.
  • Cons: Unstable from day one. CPU, Memory, Video card, PSU have all been tested and are working fine. I built this system last year before I left town. I managed to get an RMA done within the warranty period. Then I got back home around Thanksgiving to put the new board in and try again. It still has th...

Way Over Rated

Rian M., Newegg
3 February 2012
  • Summary: This review is for the Full atx format. (which isn't available on newegg anymore but this is essentially the same board with one less pci-slot) Rest of the build: OCZ 64GB SSD (master) Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1.5TB HD (slave) Nvidia 460 Fermi 1 GB DDR3 AMD Thubian 1100t Corsair Dominator 16GB at...
  • Pros: The motherboard layout is decent. Everything fit without too much trouble.
  • Cons: This board has constant power issues. My friend and I both bought nearly identical parts to build a new pc about a year ago and we are both having identical issues with the board. The board will not wake up from sleep about 25% of the time is you walk away from it. Also on occasion the screen wil...

GET A DIFFERENT BOARD!

JANELLE I., Newegg
18 January 2012
  • Pros: When it works, it does the job.
  • Cons: Board has broken twice now. I first thought it was the hard drive, went to pull it to diagnose and the system started freezing at boot... it wasn't the hard drive. Diagnosed it down to the motherboard/ram/cpu. Ram tested fine in another machine and so did CPU. Mobo.... Called BIOStar, they had me...

Eh... till the video fried... then ...eww..

JANELLE I., Newegg
18 April 2011
  • Summary: Don't buy it cuz it's cheap with good ratings. Splurge the extra $30 and get something super nice...
  • Pros: Looked good, like it comes with plenty of customization options...
  • Cons: Yeah... after hearing about the video card failing with some people I just ignored it with all the high egg ratings... then mine went kaput. I take great care of my machines and am a tech myself, so I can safely say this mobo freaked out recently randomly and it was so bad, the video card on the ...

unstable

Mark L., Newegg
25 March 2011
  • Summary: voltages are fine, it isn't overheating, memory tests good and works fine in another machine. wish i could say this was the only time I had a biostar mb problem, sadly I shouldn't have given them a second shot.
  • Pros: if it worked it would be great
  • Cons: I do not overclock. This system is completely unstable, irql bsods daily, updated to latest bios and its now only bout 3 times a week it bsods, problem is 80% of time it wont even post. just turns on and sits there. when it does finally post it says that there was an unsuccessful overclock. I do ...

Picky mobo that isn't worth the hassle.

Mark N., Newegg
24 February 2011
  • Summary: Even though this board is cheap, you will be far better off buying another brand for a few dollars more. Asus or Gigabyte would be a vast improvement and for $30-$40 more, you won't have to deal with the headaches of getting this Biostar to work right.
  • Pros: It's cheap and it supports a lot of the AMD lineup.
  • Cons: Where to begin, first off memory. Good luck finding memory that works with this board. The list of supported memory modules is short, and most of the model numbers listed are already obsolete and impossible to find. Put a stick or two in there that isn't on the short list, and you'll be drowning ...

Don't count on Biostar Support

David N., Newegg
2 February 2011
  • Summary: Will never buy BIOSTAR again. Was told to reconsider and should have listened!! My mistake. If you ever think you might have to count on support, we recommend that you choose another brand.
  • Pros: 2 slots might work???? That's about it.
  • Cons: 2 slots did not work straight out of the box. Tried other slots but soon had reboots, BSODs, and BIOS wouldn't keep settings; tried multiple sticks of RAM & slot configs, swapped PSU, vidcard, UPS. Not wanting to jump the gun, we even reinstalled operating system. Finally spent over an hour filli...
