Summary: This review is not about this specific product but about BIOSTAR warranty coverage. Two years ago I bought the motherboard A760GM2+ in a retail store. The board failed some weeks ago but when I contacted Biostar they told me the motherboard was not covered by the warranty because they sold this motherboard to the retailer more than 3 years ago (the board has a 3 year warranty). They told me to contact the retailer to get covered by the warranty.
Summary: I paired this with an intel G530 processor build for a buddy of mine. This was a great cheap way to get him into a newer PC. He uses handbrake and general web/youtube/mail etc. He was blown away by the performance for the cost ratio. I didn't have one issue with the board and I talked to him recently, and he hasn't had one problem. For a cheap motherboard with onboard video, this is the way to go. Would make a decent HTPC.
Summary: I upgraded the BIOS to version H61NR709.BSS after the sides of the windows desktop was not showing on the screen using the on-board VGA graphics. I had to move the cursor off the screen to the left to access the start button. Now that I have updated the BIOS windows would not start it freezes at the logo screen. I cannot get windows 7 boot DVD to start either it also freezes at the logo screen. I was also not able to start Mini Windows XP on a Boot CD.
Summary: I just built my first computer with this motherboard coupled with the Intel G530 cpu. Running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 with 4GB of RAM on this board and cpu is blazing fast. In attempt to load the system with numerous applications running, video streaming, and a music CD playing, CPU usage only topped out at 30%. For less than $250 (excluding recycled monitor, keyboard and mouse), I was able to build a system that far exceeds my needs. Highly recommended.
Summary: powers my wife's mid tower PC and lets her do all that she needs to do with her computer. I like to build the computers myself so that they is not extra bloat are unnecessary increases in price like store brought systems. Also what I build is cheaper and more powerful that what you can get prebuilt from a store.
