ASUS is a bad company

David A., Newegg
19 July 2013
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: It started off with the motherboard not supporting the 96 Gb of RAM that it claims to be able to support. Sent it to ASUS for fixing, which they said it was fixed, but when I got it back, still didn't support the 96 Gb, with a POST error of DIM_F1 disabled. Its always been able to see that 96 was...

Matthew V., Newegg

  • Pros: None, board was doa.
  • Cons: Dead board and had to fight with newegg to take the return. They finally approved my RMA and I've ordered a SuperMicro board instead.

GOOD LUCK WITH THIS PIECE OF JUNK

Alex G., Newegg
28 September 2011
  • Summary: One more thing: before I RMA's borh boards back, I even borrowed from a nother server 3 sticks of Wintek 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) SDRAM ECC Registered just to make sure there was no way I could prevent this RMA from happening and having to wait for 2 new boards to come in; even this...
  • Pros: If you are lucky enough to get RAM modules that are accepted by this board (dispite the specs), then it's worth the money. I installed this specific board for the first time 8 months ago for a server and it's been working flawlessly (little did I know that I had gotten lucky). 10 days ago I order...
  • Cons: Ordered 2 of these for 2 servers. Ordered same CPU “Intel Xeon E5520 Nehalem 2.26GHz LGA 1366 80W Quad-Core” (fully compatible with this model motherboard as per ASUS specs) and different RAM: first had Patriot Signature 12GB (3 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) SDRAM ECC Registered; latter had Crucia...

THESE BOARDS WILL FAIL!!

CODY S., Newegg
22 November 2010
  • Summary: ASUS's Budget options are GARBAGE and NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!! Their higher grade products, however are to be commended.
  • Pros: Yes, I am a Pro. Now heres the shakedown:
  • Cons: I have had FIVE of the Z8NA D6 series motherboards! 4x Z8NA D6C 1x Z8NA D6 Heres the track record. One arrived DOA. Two lasted several months then died. the remaining two I sold off after I decided I overbought on servers. Can't vouch for them. I NEVER abuse my hardware I have also had 1x Z8NR D1...

It's late August, and BIOS still doesn't support 5600 Xeon!

Anonymous, Newegg
26 August 2010
  • Summary: Shame on Newegg for advertising that this MB supports 5600 Xeons...you can look through this thread and see many examples of the same issue.
  • Pros: cheap, decent documentation
  • Cons: If you're unlucky enough to get an older version of the BIOS, you won't be able to use the westmere six core cpu's (X5650 in my case). I don't have a spare 5500 cpu to flash the BIOS. I called Asus, and they were supposed to overnight a new BIOS to me (at $25 shipping), but sent it ground instead...

ASUS provides notoriously BAD costumer support

John Smith, Amazon
10 May 2010
  • Summary: case #817359 ID is: WTM20100508449427306 ID is WTM201005061253303951 ASUS customer support sucks. The context: The ASUS motherboard has an old version of BIOS which does not support the latest Intel CPU so I could not update BIOS simply because MB does not POST.

impossible to customize for heatsink

Hsin-Ting L., Newegg
16 June 2009
  • Summary: duh.... this is my first asus board and will be the last!
  • Pros: cheap for a dual 1366 mb.
  • Cons: well, i can't believe this is an asus. they welded the heatsink back support so that means you have to use a heatsink that: 1. uses screw to fasten 2. uses exactly 3.5mm screws in addition, because the support is welded in the back, you can't remove or replace it so that means you can't use heats...
