Summary: Hands down this is a great board but... On board audio did not work on the board I received. Everything else is flawless and fast. So if you want to buy this board plan on buying a sound card at the same time. 3 stars for value because I can get the same performance from a gigabyte for 100 less. 3 stars for quality because on board audio was defective. Nothing ever gets a 5 in my world! Too much hassle RMA so I guess a sound card is coming hot.
Summary: Loving the great features, amazing board, Had to flash a Bios update for Ivy-E support. unfortunately I received a unit that has at least 1 bad RAM slot. I have 4 sticks in it now and am planning to get 4 more unfortunately one of the slots always reads abnormal. I plan to RMA with the manufacturer in January... I have the 21st to the 1st off and I plan to use that time to game...
Summary: 1. Marvell Controller. Marvell Controllers are garbage - they rarely operate at the specc'ed speed. This board is no different - my SSD (which is rated at 560 read 530 write) reads at about 400 and writes at about 250. That is pathetic. I stick it in the Intel SATA III, reads all the way up to 655mb/s. Nothing else to blame but that Marvell Chip.
Pros: Coming from a Rampage II Formula, this is a big step up. The UEFI BIOS are a huge step up from older standard BIOS. This board has a ton of USB ports and seems to be pretty solid. I'm glad they addressed the heat issue on the North / South Bridge with this board and stuck a fan on it.
Cons: There are several cons, and I do feel like they are worth knocking off an egg.
