Completely broke in 6 months

MrPat, Amazon
9 April 2014
  • Summary: A quick note, I bought this from another source in new condition. Simply broke, won't go into bios, no video whatsoever and it claims it is a RAM problem(Even though I followed instructions and installed 4 different singular sticks of RAM). My graphics card works in other computers, my power supply works in other computers. Everything else has been tested and I got a bad motherboard.

ASUS RMA IS HORRIBLEEEEE!!

Gabriel Grisolia, Amazon
8 April 2014
  • Summary: Really guys. Really consider in buying ASUS products. If you have a defective unit, good luck in getting it up and running again. Their RMA and CUSTOMER support is completely the worst I've seen. I sent my motherboard in for service, they exchanged it for another defective refurbished board and now they are sending me back the same defective motherboard. I would think twice before choosing this joke of a company.

DRM Enabled Motherboard

David M., Newegg
5 February 2014
  • Summary: Sad that Asus has sold us out. Gigabyte has not....yet.
  • Pros: Among the best for overclocking
  • Cons: The Asus X79 motherboard is hardwired for "BD Audio Layer Content Protection". aka Cinavia.

Crashes constantly

GP-D, Amazon
3 January 2014
  • Summary: Currently dealing with it, but every single day, when i start up this computer... The mb crashes and restarts. Sometimes once, sometimes twice, sometimes like today where it has take me over 2 hours to get the computer to boot, and stay running for more than 30 seconds. The card constantly hangs... I know its not the processor. Brand new i7. I installed it into another desktop and it runs flawlessly.

Card worked well... for a bit - what followed was a disaster.

Andrew, Amazon
5 November 2013
  • Summary: The card worked great for about a year. It died and I had to call for an RMA. The process was a complete nightmare. 4 Calls - all over 45 minutes long asking the same troubleshooting questions as the first one. We had tested everything previously, and being asked to do the same thing again and again is slightly irritating. After sending it in, I received no communication until the card showed up in the mail. It was dead when it arrived again.

rating is for the motherboard and Asus customer service

Jean-michel Tremblay, Amazon
20 May 2013
  • Summary: So here it is: when it worked, the motherboard was great, but at some point it just stopped booting. The motherboard will show its logo and ask you to press DEL to access the UEFI bios, but nothing will happen after this. It will eventually boot; at the time I am writing the review the motherboard is not able to boot. I performed a fair amount of testing (two sets of ram sticks, two video cards, I do not have a spare intel i7 CPU so I always tested with the same CPU).

Great Motherboard and Features but not TUF as advertised.

Marlon Evans, Amazon
10 June 2012
  • Summary: I purchased this board two months ago for my first build in preparation for the Diablo 3 and Max Payne 3 release. Although the memory specifications for the Sabertooth X79 were overkill, no game really requires over 8GB of RAM (not even that much), I wanted to make sure that my first build would not require an upgrade for some time to come. Upon receiving the board I flashed the BIOS and conducted a POST before running installing the OS.

Dead on arrival with no POST; VGA_led error

cudak888, Amazon
7 June 2012
  • Summary: I didn't even get a chance to get past POST with this board - for it wouldn't POST, right out of the box. Board would stop working with a solid VGA red LED. The factory BIOS on this board was Rev. 4502, so the i7 4930k I installed in it was supported. Double-checked the CPU pins. Perfect. Pulled the brand-new EVGA GTX760 video card and swapped it with a known good (and basic) ATI 2400 HD. VGA_led remains lit. Swapped the card between PCI-E slots. Light remained lit.
