Late but surely

  • Summary: It's my first Asus motherboard, though a little late to the review, this motherboard I loved when I reached my hands, because I was wearing had saved my previous pc; Until one day I was invited to a LANPARTY and installed,. . with my I7 960 pretty hard indeed .. At first I had problems off by heating and by the power supply, but it was not much trouble because I put a small fan on the north bridge and bought the appropriate power source.

It's ok... but

  • Summary: I got this board to replace a MSI x-58 Pro-E board that was going bad. The board came packaged nicely and looks great. However, after getting it in and installed it turns out the audio is dead. Other than that it is a nice board. Edit: I did an RMA through Amazon and the new motherboard I got does have working audio now. The installation of this board was fairly easy and straightforward. It detected my ram settings automatically and booted promptly.

Mine worked.

Michael Townsend, Amazon
24 October 2011
  • Summary: After reading all of the negative reviews (after I had purchased) I was a little scared. However, after receiving the motherboard and installing it, it works fine. Things I have noticed though: It has very little onboard cooling, and my NB temps were consistly 60 C at idle. Perhaps this is the design and within the specs for ceramic heat sinks, but the heats sinks are small and very hot IMO.

Saved me a lot of headache. But then sound died.

  • Summary: I previously had an Asus Rampage II Gene board which was generally great but when the crap hit the fan I had no easy way of knowing what was wrong without replacing components. I had tried a spare power supply, ram, checked the CPU for damage, moved my two 5870's around with no indication of why I was getting a black screen. Even with the lcd poster it doesn't give much problem indication.

  • Summary: Form fit and finish are outstanding. Seems "heavy duty". Some people don't like the "military" look but i do. I put it into an Antec 900 2, ver. 3 case (extra cutouts for cable mgmt and cpu access) and installation was effortless and problem free. Asus incorporated some rly nice features such as the ceramics coating The E.S.P technology. TUF components including Alloy Choke, Cap. & MOSFET. It is spacious and has e-sata and usb ports galore.

Great board but lacks some pre-install information

Jeffrey Weller, Amazon
17 March 2011
  • Summary: Great board but some of the pre-install information, such as if you want to use ez-drive backup you should install both drive BEFORE the O/S because it destroys the data on both drives. Also some further data on differences between using PATA or SATA for the SATA 6gig slots would be nice because you have to decide PRIOR to installing the O/S. If you try to change after install the O/S does not boot.
