work good for 3 1/2 years

Rose D., Newegg
10 August 2014
  • Summary: I wanted a decent PC that would last me awhile. I bought parts little by little at newegg and my son built me a nice desktop. I blamed this problem on my new canon printer at first, spent hours trying to fix it, called it every name in the book, but it's the motherboard's 2.0 usb that was the...
  • Pros: Installed February 2011 and has been working good until now.
  • Cons: I think it's starting to die. The USB 2.0's are failing.

Xtreme2damax, Amazon

Great board! (until you install ssd drives)

Ron C., Newegg
3 August 2013
  • Pros: Board has been flawless for a year. Set up and ran raid with ease. Have had no issues with the setup I had.
  • Cons: Installed 2 different sets of SSD drives, with raid, without raid. Tried both Intel and Marvell controllers.6GB and 3GB ports. I am lucky to pull off half the advertised speeds of either SSD brand I've used. This board is basically worthless when it comes to solid state drives.

Just ok, network problems

Mike J., Newegg
17 September 2012
  • Summary: This motherboard makes me anxious all the time, I feel like everytime I restart the computer I won't have internet!
  • Pros: Solid motherboard, looks cool too
  • Cons: The on-board network controller DID NOT WORK AT ALL. My friend and I bought (extra $40) + installed a 3rd party network adapter card in order to get this computer plugged into the net. This took extensive testing and driver updates in order to get working... and I am afraid to ever reinstall the ...

Great.. Until the sound stopped working

Arthur D., Newegg
14 May 2012
  • Summary: After researching this issue its common. Some blame ATI's drivers mixing in with the sound drivers. However I have a nvidia gpu.. With the crackle I heard from the speakers with the computer off, reading about poor customer support from ASUS, especially about this problem, it seems like the best bet...
  • Pros: Was running great, no issues out of the box for me. Placement of the PCI-E slots could be better, but oh well..
  • Cons: Pulled by video card out last night to do some cleaning. Computer was off, however when plugging the video card back in, heard a crackle in the speakers and now the sound doesn't work. I'm going through replacing the drivers but I know what I already feared.. Something shorted out when plugging t...

User Review

Eric D., Newegg
29 April 2012
  • Summary: I would stay away from this board. Normally I usually go with asus, but lately I've been getting blocked by technical department and warrenty with them. So last time I buy one of their board.s
  • Pros: Got the board as a gift back a year or so ago. Was fairly simple putting together. Was able to handle my i7 and geforce card pretty well.
  • Cons: Had issues with ram a lot. After the latest bios update it kept cycling power on startup a few times before starting correctly. Found out is was the mixed ram I had, so i switched it and after about 2 months the board ate my gskill 16gb ram and knocked out a couple of ports too. There wasn't any ...

Picky

Roy C., Newegg
26 April 2012
  • Pros: Great features, price ain't to bad, all the boards helpful led system saved some guessing and time.
  • Cons: Extremely picky with ram took 4 different types and multiple slot combinations, about an hour or more of making it boot overall won't buy or recommend it again. This is the second board first one DoA.

Great motherboard, very fragile socket pins though.

LKGG18, Amazon
12 April 2012
  • Summary: The motherboard was rock solid with my Intel i7 980. It ran everything solid with my two SSD's into RAID 0. I had to adjust the voltages on the motherboard bios to be able to boot 16GB on DDR3-1600 Ram. It only was able to boot 12GB of ram but was enough to make the adjustments.

Good, But Problematic Installation

Liam B., Newegg
7 March 2012
  • Pros: Good board with more than enough RAM space; decent controls in BIOS; Great Looks; Error Reporting LEDs are phenomenally helpful; SATA III and large number of SATA II connections.
  • Cons: Board came with what I can only assume was a slightly corrupted BIOS and wouldn't let me select proper clockspeeds for my RAM, BIOS needed to be flashed in order to get correct clockspeed to show up. Took several hours to get fixed, spent most of it trying to use the MemOk feature to no avail. It...
