Summary: Typical of the x79 chipset, only 2 mobo ports capable of booting from on the SATA III interface, the rest is add-on chipset provided by ASMedia. The MOSFET heatsink backplate gets so extremely hot when the CPU is set to use more voltage and or overclocked that I had to put heatsinks on it to drastically increase it's surface area for dissipation, a thermal pad to connect with the case housing and a fan to keep things below 55c.
Summary: This is definitely the smallest mobo I have ever owned. It wasn't any more difficult to install than other mobos. The bios are beautifully crafted, and are extremely user friendly. All of the features are logically placed into a few specific tabs. My only regret, which isn't a big deal, are the lack of USB 3.0 connectors which left one of the connections on the front of my case inactive. Well Worth the price, ASUS ROCKS.
Summary: I bought this board because I wanted the quality of ROG, but I never intend to run more than two GPU PCB's. Pros: - Fantastic UEFI and overclocking options. - Good Mobo component cooling. - Looks good. - Really good onboard sound. Very noticeable difference from the RealTek on the P5Q i upgraded from. - Supports Quad GPU's on two PCBs Cons: - The UEFI can be slow to load, but I think it is because it is running a hardware diagnostic check.
Summary: I wanted a gamer oriented motherboard that could handle the latest intel cpu's. I bought two: one for my son's computer and one for mine. The board fit nicely in both cases. The bios is very well laid out and has all the controls and flexibility you would want to over clock your computer. I installed intel 3820 processors in both systems along with 16gb of ram from corsair.
